Hey, guys, if you want to provide side profiles of some of your powers' warships, I'm making a set of size comparison charts for the STGOD. I already have one done...

1-20km size chart, still in progress

Commonwealth Athena-class Dreadnought:

Elongated ovoid, 5-km long, 2.5 km in diameter at the widest point.

Chart updated...

You'll adjust the scale, as needed of whatever POS drawings I send you right?

I'd offer mine, but they're all for the next-largest scale...

For reference, download the demo of Escape Velocity Nova. The Unrelenting is obvious. The Gangster is a scaled up Manticore. The Psychopath is an even more scaled up Fed Destroyer. And the Long Hauls are fatter versions of the Auroran carriers.

I'm assuming that you can manipulate the cameras enough to get a decent side shot.

And at any rate, it doesn't matter what size the ships are. If I know you have them, and you send me something or otherwise tell me how to get a side profile, I'll make a chart that they will fit on.

Um... No. Best you could do is email ambrosia, to see if they could put up some side beauty shots as wallpapers, and hope for the best. Second best, ask around on the EV boards for modellers that redid the ships, and see if they would render you some pics.

With them being simple black and white images, you could save them as .gifs instead. File size is basically the same, and you get a bit better detail/quality.

Our primary vessel the Teuthis, is a 1 km long squid...

Oh spare me. They're not black/white images, they're 8-shade grayscale. I can keep tweaking them around until I'm happy anyway.

Dude, I was just trying to offer a helpful suggestion.

Yeah, I know; you made the last set of ship charts along with O'Farrell. But I'm guessing you made those at the same resolution you displayed them; I did the first one at 1px/100m and then scaled it down. It frankly looks horrible if I drop it to 2 colors.

And with a reduced palette, it doesn't matter if I use PNG or GIF, really.

Yes, that's the scale I made them at. Basic scale was 1000px = 1km/10km/20km, etc respectively.

Ah. Okay. I just suggested cause the ships looked a little blured around the edges, plus there looks like a hole in the top of the Eclipse followed by a strange cloud/strip of particles above it. *shrugs*

The biggest ship, the Behemoth Avalon, is roughly 40km long, with a elongated tear-drop shape, and the drive unit at the thin end of the tear.

I updated my image; I copied-and-pasted the PowerPoint vector illustration into Photoshop (where it was promptly rasterized, grr) and added some titles. It should be about to scale now, though not perfect. Yes, the Big Guns on the Confederation are the size of my battleships

EDIT: Here's a very rough sketch of Lucky Trader. Those engine nozzles should be bell, not conical, but I was lazy.

Erm, I've got a fairly large chart (not to scale) of pretty much every ship I have. No host, so i'll have to e-mail it to you at some point. Oh, and check your PMs, Crayz :)

Gah, sorry Crayz. The Confederation should be flipped. The fore direction is to the left on my drawings.

None of these would fit on the 1-20 Km scale. But it's nice for pictures.

Image

A Long Haul. Well, make it fatter, and it is.

Image

The aptly named Psychopath.

Image

The Gangster.

Image

An Unrelenting with it's original sublight drives.

Ambrosia has some nice wallpapers of several of those ships, too. I might also try my hand at extracting some of the images from the back (in the buy locations)

:wtf:

Cute? Bah, I think they're quite utilitarian (though at the moment, only those two ships). I also didn't show the port/starboard guns either.

IMV Lucky Trader is a very rough outline view of a ship from the game Escape Velocity Nova.

I'm considering getting in on this STGOD sometime soon, my free time is such that I'm actually reading lecture notes now.

Is it okay to join this late on?

Probably, some other people just joined yesterday. Sir Nitram is moddin' this, but I see no reason why you wouldn't be let in.
