Scorched Earth: The Mother of All Games

Anyone remember playing this? I never had a chance "back in the day" but it somehow found it's way on to the Wardroom's computers. I think it's version 1.5 (which would make sense given the folder/zip name of "scorch15"). At any rate, after playing it this past week, I have come to realize it is highl addictive and threatens my class attendance, which is probably a Bad Thing.
But I just can't stop!
*goes back to lobbing Death's Heads at enemy tanks*

Death Heads are fucking awesome. Get a Super Mag Shield, put the angle at 45 degrees, and (I assume you have wraparound walls on) launch the thing at max power. With tracers on it'll look just like someone hucked an ICBM at all of yall when all 9 nukes come screaming back down!

Ah yes... Scorched Earth. Truely an addictive game. A blast.
Also, for those of you who are unfamiliar with it, there is also a 3D version available.
Can be found here:
http://scorched3d.co.uk/
It's also equally addictive.

I either don't have wall effects on, or leave it at random.
Which was really fucking annoying when I had the rubber walls thing and behind a huge freakin' hill...

PHUCKING PHUN! One problem: you start getting into the game, raising shields and busting off a Funky Nuke (the funniest bomb concept since someone mixed yellow stuff with white and black stuff, lit it, and saw it go Boom!) then Poof: Connection Lost?!? Wagh!

there's also another game out now called
Gunbound. It is the same genre and FREE and fun
You haven't lived until you have played Scorched Earth. It used to be one of the most popular games around.

Very true. The computer labs at my HS used to be full at lunch and after school with people playing Scorched Earth.

IIRC, the free version of Scorched earth lacked some features, you had to pay/register to have all features....don't recall exactly what they were, but I don't think they were important, as I never saw fit to purchase the full version. God, how many hours of my life did I piss away on that game? Good times!
