What is the difference between the male and female psychologies that seems to produce more male gamers than female gamers?

Or the number of females who could be males pretending to be females. This has come up at least once in every online game I've ever played.JediNeophyte wrote:On another note, you'd be surprised as to the numbers of female gamers in less action-oriented games, like MMORPGs.
Well, there's that of course, but after awhile you can generally tell, particularly if they're active on forums for the game.Embracer Of Darkness wrote:Or the number of females who could be males pretending to be females. At the risk of me-too'ing... You are totally right.JediNeophyte wrote:Well, there's that of course, but after awhile you can generally tell, particularly if they're active on forums for the game.Embracer Of Darkness wrote:Or the number of females who could be males pretending to be females. On what do you base that? While, as a whole, men are less likely to seek help for their problems, that doesn't mean that they're less sociable than women.DPDarkPrimus wrote:I'm sorry if I sound stereotypical here, but men are less sociable than women, as a whole, and gaming is a way for guys to be sociable without really being sociable.
Of course, I've also heard that there are females who pretend to be males.Embracer Of Darkness wrote:Or the number of females who could be males pretending to be females. This has come up at least once in every online game I've ever played.
God forbid we have hobbies that don't involve being around other people!Perhaps women are smarter and don't waste time on games.
Whoa, seriously? Why would they do that?Uraniun235 wrote:Of course, I've also heard that there are females who pretend to be males.Embracer Of Darkness wrote:Or the number of females who could be males pretending to be females. This has come up at least once in every online game I've ever played.
I wasn't going to address this point, but LOL! Fuckin' A!Uraniun235 wrote:God forbid we have hobbies that don't involve being around other people!Perhaps women are smarter and don't waste time on games.

That's true. Remember back then before the mods put a stop to it, regarding Zaia and the others?Tragic wrote:I asked that same question one day to a female gamer. She told me because imagine being in a game with over 5000 geeks, nerds or whatever you call them, that doesn't have agirlfriend or been with a girl for a matter of fact. They would hit on her all the time etc. So some females make act like a guy to stop that from happening.
Speaking of boobies and video games, nice Ivy av.Guys like the action games a lot more than girls, and the gaming industry is really tuned into that.
Not to mention guys are just more agressive and violent than the vast majority of women. It's the same reason that guys still consitute the majority of the military. We're wired to be more agressive.Kuja wrote:Guys like the action games a lot more than girls, and the gaming industry is really tuned into that.
But... but... Neopets are cute and cuddly!!The Yosemite Bear wrote:Obviously the men of this forum have never heard of "Neopets" my GF is a serious addict, same goes for most of the women in this park....
Whaddya mean, never heard of Neopets? My GF's on it constantly... And so is one of my male friends, oddly enough...The Yosemite Bear wrote:Obviously the men of this forum have never heard of "Neopets" my GF is a serious addict, same goes for most of the women in this park....
This is very true. It's like, now, if some guys that know each other either from real life or from the net that play together, games like cs and quake are still loads of fun, but they're still absolutely nothing compared to wapping goldeneye in an N64 and fighting your friends on a dingy little monitor. Then there's always fighting games like DOA2, which just aren't made for the online world or pc gaming at all.Durandal wrote:Let's also be careful to differentiate between console gamers and PC gamers. Consoles are geared more toward a real social setting, despite the fact that split-screen sucks balls for multi-player from a playability standpoint. From a social standpoint though, it fosters interaction much more readily. Everyone's in the same room and can talk trash face-to-face, in real-time.
