It basically uses Windows' ntfs.sys to do the work, via emulation. Not good for performance though.

Kewl. Now all we need to do is reverse engineer this ntfs.sys file, build a GPL version, optimize the HELL out of it, and integrate it into Linux.

Can't do that. All of the "Microsoft emulation" things for Linux, such as Samba and the various read-only NTFS drivers are clean-room implementations to avoid any legal trouble.Einhander Sn0m4n wrote:Kewl. Essentially, this technique uses the Linux read-only driver to mount the partition, it looks for the "official" NTFS driver, loads that into RAM, dismounts the partition with the read-only driver and remounts it with the official driver.
Looks like banning didn't work. Guess I'll edit /etc/hosts and try to keep my hands off of it.
