Says Sharman networks.

Short story, the makers of bloatware Kazaa don't like Kazaa Lite. All ISPs hosting the lite software have been ordered to pull it. Furthermore, file-sharing nodes using newer versions of Kazaa won't recognize nodes running older versions of the software.

Of couse, this story is being provided for academic interests, as none of us actually use the software to illegally obtain copyrighted material, right?

Of course. You think they'd allow the advertising dollars from the spyware to disappear forever?

... But then, you get the people who use Kazaa purely for legal purposes. For instance, there's no law against sharing any audio or video artwork of my own...

Ah well. There're other alternatives.

For sharing your legally personally created works, I find the best to be Direct Connect Plus Plus. But like I said, only for legal stuff, like your music you made or pictures you drew.

DC++ is quite good actually. You can set it to use a local only node and avoid wasting international bandwidth.

You'd think they would get a clue when people quit using their software and went to Kazaa Lite instead. People don't want adware/spyware on their system fucking things up! But then, they don't really give a shit about what we want do they?
