Prelude:
Somewhere, is a realm beyond mortal ken, five figures sit around a table. The first steps up, her bone armor clinking as she moves. She smashes her fist down on the table.
"What mockery is this?! We stand poised and you do nothing!? Why ar..."
"SILENCE!" She reels as if struck and collapses back into her seat.
The figure at the head of the table slowly rises. He begans to speak, his voice little more then a whisper......
"Indeed we are poised, and I will not have our preperation ruined by your impatence. We will wait, and watch."
Instantly a map of the known world appears on the table, the illusion shimmering in the air. A hidious clawed hand reaches out, the claw barley circleing a small section.
"Deploy scouts, we shall test the enemey, and in their weakness distroy them."
The remaining four figures rise.
"It shall be as you command!"

-------------------

Elsewhere....at the Last Chance Inn....deep within the forbidden forest:

The hunt is on, the prey: Kobolds. A large group of Kobolds has been using the forest for cover for raids. Strikeing out into nearby towns, and then fadeing back into the forest, using caves as hideing points. The king has placed bounty on the kobolds, 5gp per kobold killed, 500gp for the kobold leader, and another 500gp if they are all wiped out. The adventuring busness has been slow as of late, and you know easy money when you see it, they are only kobolds after all, this will be a sinch.......

.........right?

Our story begins inside the Last Chance inn. The most remote outpost of human civilization inside the forest, the sun has just set, and you are all down the in the tavern injoying a good drink before setting out tomorrow. The tavern is completly empty except for all of you, and one drunk in the corner. A fire roars in the fireplace, and the bartender is cleaning a glass. Overall, a very well kept inn.

Keenan: Dragons are cool!
Grozny: Dwarven fighter. Nuff said.
Tasaroth: You can never have enough spells.
Griz: The bounty hunter.
Malakar: the crazy one.
Robgea: The power of the armored cart!

Terribly non-dramatic OOC stuff:
The forbidden forest is the oldest forest in the known world. Wood elves, pixies, and ents fill it, as well as............other creatures, best left unmentioned.

Unlike other forests of it's kind, the forbidden forest seems to have a kind of group will. The creatues within it are nothing like their normal brethren, and will attack anyone and everyone who attemps to enter the forest. The Last Chance is kept safe by a ward. What keeps the Kobolds safe is unknown.......

Keenan secured his beloved warhorse, and walked over to the inn's entrance.
He swiftly opened it and stepped in, the last rays of the sun streaming in from behind him. Not really a popular vacation spot, he thought after looking at the few guests. But he didn't know why he was here, in the first place. At least it's even farer away from the old 'home'
He assessed the people present, and no one seemed to be a threat to him. He flipped back the cap of deep-black coat and with the practiced ease and elegance he strode to an empty table, and gestured the bartender for an ale.

A steryotypical fantasy waitress walks up from behind the bar. She notices Keenan's minor draconic traits and appears nervious.
"er....um......what can I get you sir?"

OOC: Since your not in a combat situation and arn't activly searching. None of you will notice the dragonic features unless your within about 10 to 15ft. Elves however, will notice them from across the room due to their keen sense.

He looked at the waitress and had to hide his dismay. So easily frightened those people... He sighed.
"An ale will do, miss," his deep voice answered her. He even managed what amounted to an almost-smile.

Leaving his pony lashed to a nearby pole, Grozny walks into the tavern, mail clanking as he finds the nearest mini-stole and pulls up to the bar.
"A bottle and Gin and Rum my good barkeep, and make it good stuff."

The bartender slides a bottle of Gin and Rum across the bar. The waitress brings you your ale and scuttles away.

The barkeep speaks up.
"Drinks are 4 silver. It's not easy to get this stuff carted all the way out here."

With a snort Kennan pulled 4 silver pieces out of his pocket and laid them on the table.

Grozny pulls out a small role of 10 gold coins, and quietly lays them down on the bar.
"Keep the drinks coming and theres another of those for your troubles. Here's to the good of the drink that ales us!" mutters Grozny as he knocks back his Gin and Whisky.

The bartenders eye's light up as he sees the gold.
"Anything else I can get for you sir? A room perhaps?"

The waitress comes over to keenens table and collects the 4 silver.

A young elf walks into the bar. Wearing purple and blue robes, that match with his violet eyes and silvery hair. His nose was in a book of random lore, a backpack was slung on his shoulder with a bow, and a rapier hung by his side.

He moved with an unearthly grace as he sat down at the bar next to Keenen.

"Bartender, would you by chance have a mead?"

Keenan watched the strange elf curiously.
The brainy type, I guess...
He did look look almost comical in those colours. But somehow he managed to wear them in a very stylish way. THough Keenan prefers all black. As was obvious to even the casual observer. The only non-black item on him was his greatsword, and even that looked dark.
"Costs four silver," he told the Elf guy.

+OOC: Mead is a drink right?+
"Aye....."
The bartender slides you your drink.
".....that will be 4 silver."

"Thank you sir."

"Well, with that four silver I was going to cover your next drink"

Keenan turned his face towards the considerably smaller newcomer and eyed him suspicously from top to toe.
"Why would you do that, stranger?"

Tsaroth smiles and shakes his head

"I didnt say that out loud just now? He mutters in elven

"Just being friendly I suppose... Is there harm in offering to buy someone a drink in a bar?" He said with a nervous grin.

"So, what is your trade?"

Malakar enters the Last Chance Inn, looking slightly harried and tired. He walks slowy towards the counter and orders a drink, and turns to look at the rest of the patrons. He notices something strange about a man sitting in the corner..something he cannont quite grasp. Then he realizes what it is he's seeing. The gold eyes, the skin, everything matches his memory. A half-dragon...most interesting... thinks Malakar amusingly. And probably a worthy ally..

"So, what is your trade?"
Don't bite his head off just yet, he told himself. He seems not to be dangerous, and is kinda cute...
"Well, little one," he smiled back a teeth-hidden smile, "I'll accept that drink, then. Where I come from, this is...unusual. I'm afraid I still have to get used to this open-mindedness..." He remained silent for a few seconds before he talked to the little elf again. "My trade is...special. Magic, so to speak." He grinned again, this time some of his canines were showing through.

From the corner of his eye he watched as yet another elf enters the inn.
Must be a gathering...
He stiffened ever so slightly as the newcomer intently observes him. But he turns his attention back to the nicer-looking elf besides him.

Griz enters the inn though the main door. He tries to memorize the faces
of the people present in the main room. Maybe some of them are on a
wanted poster. (to the Barthender) "Mug of beer and a plate of stew, please".
(to Grozny) "May I take a seat here?"

"Ah, I myself practice magic... Though who other than a mage wears rediculous robes like this?"

He smiled, he didnt have canines, but unlike many humans, he cast cleaning sells on his teeth and they were nice and shiny. He ten took a drink from his mug of mead

Keenan scanned the elf another time from top to toe, taking his time doing it.
"Well, you manage to look, well, good in them," he ever so slightly blushed. "I have seen worse."
He tok another deep drink from his ale.

"Why thank you" Tsaroth said with a smile, meeting Keenen's gaze, and scanning his new friend slowly, from head to toe, which was a pretty good distance.

"The name's Tsaroth, and yours?" as he extended his hand

"Keenan Stuart," he answered as he shook his hand. When he pulled his hand back his fingernails, now more talons than nails, softly scraped along the sleek hand of Tsaroth.
He couldn't be interested... Could he?
