My computer is dead. My G3 snow-white iMac which has served me "faithfully" through my sophmore and junior years of high school....has died....RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE FUCKING COLLEGE APPLICATION PROCESS!
Luckily for me...I made copies of all my essays and put them on my school issued lap top which I'm posting with....so no huge loss there.
Anyways....
I need a desktop replacement. Anybody got recommendations?

You stuck with Mac? If so, there isn't much in the way of choices. It's either eMac, iMac or G5 Desktop.
If you aren't married to Mac's, then there are a multitude of other options. If you could provide your price range and priorities of use(gaming, surfing, etc), then I can make some suggestions. Also, will you be needing a monitor and do you want an LCD or CRT?

Well it's not so much me that's married to it as it is my parents. They simply can't learn to use PCs. They're hopeless. I'm actually worried about what they'll do without me to guide themThe Kernel wrote:You stuck with Mac? If so, there isn't much in the way of choices. It's either eMac, iMac or G5 Desktop.
Well that's good. I will need a desktop for college after allIf you aren't married to Mac's, then there are a multitude of other options. but I don't think I'll be able to give you a price range. My parents have basically said that it depends on the tuition of the place I get into. If it's something like Cooper Union which pays for all tuition, then they'll get me whatever I want. If it's someting like Lehigh which is around ~30,000$...they said they'd get me the bare minimum.
So I guess could you give me the middle of the road in terms of price?
