AD&D: Spark, Tinder, and Flame

Interlude:
The final chants were completed, and the magical water poured over the hot coals. Steam billowed up, and then hung in the air, slowly an image appeared. The two attendents kneeled, with a wave of a hand they were dismissed.
"This had better be important, this method of communication is not cheap."
The image scowled.
"You would be wise to show more repect."
"Get to the point."
"The kobolds failed, the forest won't be slaying our enimies for us. We want one of your ships to pick them up."
"Fine. Anything else?"
"Yes. They were thwarted by a powerfull group of adevnturers, we don't think they know anything, simply luck. But be carefull."
"Have I ever failed you?"
"Do as you will, but do not underestimate them."
"They'll never know what hit them......"

You slowly approach the city, wonding where to begin your search......

Spark wakes up, and sticks his head out of the cart.
"Nice building, but I wonder if the library is any good."

"Right, you lot do some searching, Quoth will help you, and alert me if you find anythinng. Me I'm going to research the Fael in the guild, and the guild library. Prehaps we could find more about their magic as well. Spark, would you be willing to help me?"

You arrive at the mages guild, the only entrance you see is two huge double doors at the front. They are open just a crack.

You see a grand entrance hall, pillars on either side, with dozens of doors on the walls. There is a desk in the front, with a man in wizards robes sitting behind it. He looks up.
"Yes? May I help you?"

"Depends, if you simply want to study arcane lore, then you can stay there all day for a 5gp fee. If you were hopeing you copy spells from out fine spellbook collection, then you need to join."

*Before they leave for the mage guild, I'll ask for a Inn we'll be meeting later on... Lest we get lost in the city*
"I just don't like huge cities.. They make me feel so...vulnerable," he hisses as he seperates from Tsaroth.

I'll ride with my horse and belongins to the Inn and get myself and Tsaroth a room, as well as a stable.
Then I'll wander the city, and try to get some information, possibly if someone knows about any kobolds around here.

THE inn? This city have 5 or 6, and you've never been here before. Sorry, you can't do that without breaking continutiy.

"Actually quite simple. We record your name, race etc. You go through some basic tests to determine your spellcasting ability. Pay a 100gp entrance fee, and a 10gp montly dues. You can pay yoru dues in advance if your going to be away. The benifits include out spellbook collection, training in any area of spellcasting you feel you require assistance in, and a discount on any magic items purchased."

(THat's why I've written that we have previoulsy should have decided on one... Otherwise I just ask for a nice one and go there and send my familiar to tell TSaroth and the others were I'll stay)

Fine, your familiar informs the others that you are staying at the Loaded Dice inn.

No one you ask has heard anything about kobolds.
