I was wondering which software would be best to create a website. I've been going back and forth on if I want to create a personal online photo gallery for friends and family (Might be going to Asia for a few weeks) so they can see where I've been and doing. Thanks for all your help.

Notepad is good for starters.

For normal webpage design (kinda pro) Dreamweaver is the best IMO. For automatic photo albums the best would be some image viewer, I agree that ACDSee gets the job done quick.

I've never heard of ACDSee, but as far as Dreamweaver goes, specifically use MX. Others will reccommend M$ FrontPage, but I wouldn't.

Not many here like FrontPage, but it is fairly easy to use and not too expensive. ACDSee has its "generate a gallery" function, so that may be best.

If you've got a Macintosh and subscribe to .mac, the included webspace has a function for that as well.

ACDSee is a photo catalog viewer (image explorer, whatever). It's shareware. It's actually quite good, the difference is that DW or FP are for manually editing pages, this one exports whole folders of pictures, makes a HTML to bind them, creates the thumbnails, links, etc.

Allaire Homesite is also a good. Its advantage is it is very simple to use and flexible. You can do both manual coding and WYISWYG style web page building. And it has tons of wizards and features to automate things.
