Advanced Windows 2000 Networking Question

Post by Sam Or I »

OK, I have a problem joining a windows 2000 machine to the a network domain I get an error of: The revision level is unknown.

I have found this link on how to correct the problem:

http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/defau ... s/3867.asp

Explanation:
The service has encountered a revision level in a security object that it does not recognize. For instance, this may be a more recent revision than the service knows about.

User Action:
Rebuild the security object in the current Windows 2000 environment. Then the service will recognize its revision level.

So the question is how do I rebuild the security object??? And which one do I rebuild?

I'll do a little more checking on this later on but my first thought is to do a Win2000 online update for the server.

But in the meantime, can you ping the server and vice versa?

If it's an AD domain remove the created computer account from the AD and try to add the computer again.

You also might have to update the server with the latest service pack.
