Not bad! I can only get about 350 kB/s downlods. What kind of connectin is it?

Nothing but plain old Coxial Cable with a switching unit within the building myself,
As of now I currently the only one in the entire building with it working so I expect preformance to degreaded however if I want I can up to a Business acount(Another 49.99$ a month) get my uploads uncaped to 4Mb's(Instead of its present 256k) and get a pretty much unshared line


Depending on how many people in this building of roughly 60 get the Net Connection I just might switch

Stuff going over the lan can get up to a cool mB/s

That's pretty nice. I can pull down 1 MB/sec if the server's fast enough, but I can't go any faster because the connection in my room's only 10Mbs. (OSU has a 45 Mb connection)

On the other hand, OSU limits me to a gig up and a gig down a day, so I have to be careful about how much I download.

On cable, I usually average between 300-400k/s and have maxed at 800k/s from Microsoft US.

Good for you Bean. Maybe you could shoot my ISP? Random disconnects and refusal to recognize my login without repeated dail-ins is a real pain in the ass....

My dorm here at SCSU has a full, fat T3 pipe. At night, I can even sometimes get all 45Mb/s (5.6MB/s). But that's the only good thing about the internet connection here. It's managed by a bunch of paranoid hippies who don't know what they're doing half of the time, while the other half they're laughing their stoned asses down in the server room and seriously fucking with the firewalls and gateways here.

But back at home I'm sitting on a 1.5mbps Comcast line.

So is the internet really so fast in America ? How much do I have to pay for a superfast connection if I were in America ?

Mine's comparable to Mr. Bean's, and its included in my tuition costs for university. (So its not exactly free, but I'm paying tuition whether I use it or not. What do you think I'm gonna do? )

Roughly around $40 - 60 per month. Depends on which package you pick though. There are some ISPs that offer half-price deals for a few months to lure you in. You MIGHT be able to shave a few bucks off your bill if you buy your own modem. If you buy the modem yourself, just make sure they support it. (some ISPs are finikey about that...just like some favor "Surfboard" while some favor "Belkin".) I realize that this is more info than what you asked for, but I added the rest mainly for those in the market for broadband connects.

in hte UK you can get a 1mb line for around £35, uh... i think thats between 50 and 60 dollars...

Just have to pitch in my 0.02c here.

I love my ISP for ~$60/m I get a 12/8 vdsl line and regulary pull down ~1MB/s with dc++

Sadly the ping sux to other isp's in Sweden, the same isp no prob 10-20ms give or take, but playing cs and stuff at the nations largest isp Telia gives a ping around 100ms

Well, Faram, at least you don't have my lovely connection. Ping is ~1930 ms or so, and that's when it's fast. We need to gather 40 households in order for them to install an ADSL connection. The problem is that there's only 30 around here and only seven of them have computers and are intrested in a faster 'net connection.

Yeah I wish that would help. Maybe if I went to the telecompany's office with the bat and asked them nicely, they would connect it to my phone line. Or not considering that they are fucking fucks. They'd probably rather die than give us that adsl... Goddamnit!! What the fuck happened to the government's policy "broadband to all"?!
