Allrighty.. so I'm trying to add a database via CPanel, and it will let me add a user, but won't correctly let me add a database. Everytime I try to add a database, it says it adds it, but then I click the "Go Back" button and the database I supposedly created is not in the list. (I've tried this now with both Opera 7.2 and IE6, and I'm running WinXPHE).

Ok I somehow managed to install a database somewhere else in CPanel (but it's not showing up in the dropdown box, still). And now that I can get to the install the board page, I have all the correct information, but it gives me this:
Warning: mysql_error(): supplied argument is not a valid MySQL-Link resource in /home/firebran/public_html/board/db/mysql4.php on line 330

Warning: mysql_errno(): supplied argument is not a valid MySQL-Link resource in /home/firebran/public_html/board/db/mysql4.php on line 331
phpBB : Critical Error

Could not connect to the database
Could this be because I can't get the user added to the db?

[EDIT] Oh, and I'd download phpmyadmin, but the site's not working at the moment. >_>

I use cPanel and I've never had any problems. Does your hosting service have Fantastico installed by any chance? Its got some handy automagical installations for all sorts of software and it handles the MySQL work on its own.

When I read CPanel I thought it was a C++ class.

...can ANYONE explain this kind of stuff in layman's terms so that I might have even a remote chance of figuring this crap out?
