TradeWars has been modified for the internet...

Black Nova Traders

A friend of mine is running this server.

I hate that game. There's always someone that's 10000 times stronger than you because he's been playing for 10000 days more than you, and he just comes and steals all your planets.

You are aware Tradewars is still going strong in places you can get to via telnet?

I guarantee that I'll be over 100,000 times stronger than you if you start, but I won't be stealing your planets unless you attack me first (only one player that foolish so far).

That's the other thing I hate about that game. The map is so big you think "hey, I'll just put my planet over here and remove all links to it, so it'll be really hard to find", but no matter what, *somebody* will find it and take it, because there are always so many players...

This game was probably meant to be played with no more than 100 players or so. But the main server has like 50 million. (that's about 500 players per sector :P)

EDIT: that's it. I'm resuming work on my sci-fi webgame. It'll be better than this... more like a MMORPG, with professions and people being nice to each other for a change ;)

Well the game at the link has a grand total of 12 players right now, and not all of them are active. There are other players with substantial empires that I haven't found.

The only places the game has been publicized are here in this thread and in the owner's weblog.
