Damn it. They made Kraid friggin' huge! I know he was already huge in Super Metroid, but this throws my Phazon theory out the window.

Phazon theory? Bleh, we don't know how big that species can get normally, or whether the Kraid in Metroid 1/ZM is the same as the one in Super Metroid. Clearly, it's the same Ridley all the way through, but considering that we see the 'fake' Kraid in Met1 and the 'mini' Kraid in Met3, there's just no way to know yet. I'm not sure I like what they've done to his head. He was fine as is, although his early art for MZM sucked monkey balls.

You're right about that, actually. The Metroid art for Kraid looked more like Arachnus from Metroid Fusion than the Super Metroid Kraid. My theory was that his new look was a side effect of the Phazon radiation they used to repair his body (presumably, they also did that to Mother Brain and Meta-Ridley).
