Computer Problems

OK, I've been having issues with my comp that have recently begun to get even worse. Periodically my computer will just up and restart for no apparant reason. This tends to happen when I have IE or Mozilla open or occasionally when I task-switch with Alt-Tab. I think there are a lot of potential causes, so I'm hoping somone here can help out. My primary suspect is my RAM - could it be causing this? These problems first started occuring around the time I installed a 512MB chip of PC2700 PNY DDR RAM, to complement my two 256MB chips of PC2700 Corsair DDR. Could the brand mixing be at fault? I've heard it can cause problems but I don't know if that's true.

Any help appreciated. Thanks in advance. :D

Wauge description of an error that can be just about anything.

But according to your description and the fact that you changed memory. My bet would also be on the memory or the power supply.

Here:

Memtest 86

Download this and run it. It will let you know if the memory is a problem.

You don't need them, there is a CD-Boot version and a Windows version (though I recommend the CD-Boot).
