Just finished playing a few skermish levels. It's feckign awsome. The Vic's look and play very well. I also notice they've fixed the targeting bug from the last version. In V7.1 if you had too many ships in a battle group they wouldn't fire at a large group of targets. The X-Wings are very pretty also. Gonna play as the rebels now.

Speaking of which....when is Lucasarts going to make a new space strategy game?!?! Its been what...5 years or so now? Enough with the Rouge Squadron games already and the first person rpg games. Give the people what they want!

Unless you're planning on dressing up as Grand Admiral Thrawn this Halloween, you shouldn't hold your breath.

Space Strategy games are a niche, even real-time ones. Why make one of their own when Homeworld Mods sate the population easily enough? 4X games like Rebellion are even more of a niche market. They easily make more money off of another Rogue Squadron game than they would off of a Space Empires/Masters of Orion clone.

Note that they've also stopped the X-Wing Series, preferring to go down the Jedi Knight road. I know that there are a lot of people who want a new X-Wing game with kickass graphics, teamplay, etc., but chances are it won't happen.

[Cartman]Noooooo, screw you guys![/Cartman] Let us picket LucasArts HQ, quickly! Need more X-wing! *Grabs blank protest signs and Sharpies stored up for precisely this kind of occasion.*

Yeah, uh...good luck with that.

Tell you what, I'll phone ahead, let them know you're coming, and that you've got a bom-er, bone to pick with them. I'm sure they'll see things your way.

Me? Heavens no, I wouldn't take on a one man protest job outside a major company. *Gathers the gaming club.*

Actually, its a fair number of us. And I'm sure there are other X-wing fans out there. I'll see about starting a website. Hmmm. rebelbase.net sounds good. 8) Wonder how many X-wing fanboys I can get...

Wonders how many care.

Obviously not you, but you don't care about much at all, it seems. Other than stating your apathy. You seem to care very much about that.

Here's a hint...most of the people that really care are in doing the X-Wing Alliance Upgrade, or mods for other space games.

It's not a huge group, I'm afraid, and if you took a look at the sales figures for Dark Forces games and compared them to X-Wing games (or worse yet, Rogue Squadron to X-Wing), you'd probably see why Lucas Arts doesn't give a damn about continuing the series.

Damn it, my favorite games are just dead then. *Goes to find something to break.*

I downloaded it, reveled in the glory of the Imperial Mothership, built a fleet..and CRASH!!!

Goddammit...anyone else had that problem in Skirmish mode?

Also, anyone know if theres any plans to make the single players campaigns actually work with the mod, or better yet, an entire new campaign? Now that teh source codes released, Im kinda hoping there will be.. :)

I posted instructions on how to get this mod to work in the single player campaign here a few months ago:
Temjin, in "Star trek vs Star wars Homworld Mod" wrote:The mod that was just posted can be used in the single player game. It's just that on mission 4 and 7 the game will crash to desktop. This is due to the Ambassador Corvette.

To prevent this, go into your Homeworld folder. You should see a R1 folder and a R2 folder. This is the Federation and the Empire respectively. Go into the indicated folder for the race you have chosen. In there you should see a folder and two files called heavycorvette. Rename these to whatever you wish. After the Ambassador Corvette parts in the game, you can change them back with no ill effects.
By doing this I managed to play the entire campaign with the mod.

It's only the carrier actually, Howedar's mesh, the actual WIP imperial mothership is some sort of large super star destroyer of some variation, concept art derived I recall...

Tried searching for it Temjin...cant seem to find it..but then my searching skills arent the best. Oh also forgot to add, the reason why I cant play the single player missions is that the Imperial Carracks kill every single one of the cryo trays before the cut scene even ends

as for the mothership, V8.0's looks like a very tasty mix of victory and a SSD...its very good :)

Uhhh.... I just quoted it in my last post so you didn't have to search for it. It was right below the "I posted instructions on how to get this mod to work in the single player campaign here a few months ago"

As for the cryo trays, get the Big Viewer and edit the stats on the cryo trays to something higher. If you need instructions on how to do this, PM me.
