Isn't it called Rebellion? Or is that a different game?

Anyway, I was just wondering if this game was any good and, if it is, where I could get it. I LOVE Master of Orion and games like that...and a Star Wars MOO makes me shiver just thinking about it lol Thanks for any info :)

It's nowhere near as good. Only an apologist would tell you otherwise.

I liked Rebellion. But I will admnit that its a "love it or hate it" type game.

If your looking for a good Star Wars Space Strategy game similar to MOO, you might want to try some of the MODs for Space Empires IV.

I dunno, it was fun up to point, storming Coruscant with well over a thousand starfighters and at least a hundred different capital ship and the build up to that was fun, what wasnt fun was discovering that there were all of 6 star destroyers waiting for you, and that the emperor had actually buggered off on a jaunt round the Rim Worlds...

Rebellion wasnt good at all (altough i played it)

Not so long ago i picked up MOO2 again, imo one of the best (and so much better than MOO3, bah why oh why did i bought that :()

A stellar convertor on a doom star or titan and you got a good match vs the Empire

I liked the game a lot. However, looking back on it now it was probably due to the fact that I was going through a SW fanboy stage, and also because it was one of the first games I ever played on my [then new] PC. Being bred on a diet of console shit makes you appreciate PC games no matter how average they are - which Rebellion certainly is.

[BTW ... even though I am in the UK, the version I bought was called Rebellion. I don't know why it wasn't the Supremecy version that came out in the UK].

The game has a few good points, but micromanagement is a bitch, and the battles were a bit silly. Also the "real time" aspect was stupid, I would rather have had a "pass day" key. Everything took too damn long but you had to check every event every day just in case you were invaded or your bantha farm spontaneously exploded.

I always liked the first Master of Orion better than the sequel: none of that stupid "make this building, assign farmers" civilization crap, just numerical gauges for # of factories, population, pollution, etc.

Actually I think I like the first MOO more than the second one too...but they were both awesome :) The third sucked...I was so disappointed

Thanks for all the info guys, I guess I'll have to wait for a new game like this to come out (but from reading another thread in this forum, it doesn't seem like that will be anytime soon :( )

I felt playing Supremacy was like working chores. It lost appeal quickly.

Rebellion did indeed suck, but the creators of MOO2 made a Star Trek themed Space Conquest game called Birth of the Federation that was pretty good.

Maybe somebody could make a mod for Master of Orion :D

(not like Space Empires, that one's kinda sucky, has TONS of micromanagements)

Eh, most are survivable. Gives the game a lot of detail, IMO. Plus there are ministers for most things you don't want to have to deal with.

i think i played that longer than rebellion. Much better indeed.

@ rebellion: You dont need good graphs perse to have a good game but what bugged me the most at rebellion was the interface. It was the unterface from hell only to be designed to piss off people

The best part of that game was the ability to "Death Star" planets that had an excessive amount of planetary batteries+shields. (Meaning that you would lose ALOT of ships if you attempted planetary bombardment.).

The concept behind Rebellion was good but interface sucked. Also the tactical combat had terrible graphics and bad unit command systems.

Rebellion wasn't a bad game, but it wasn't a good game either. Going day by day drags on interminably - waiting for big bad ships and death stars to finally get built is a pain in the ass, especially when they face delays at the hands of sabatours and fleet interventions. Building up fleets was cool, but could have been streamlined to rely less on micromanagement. As fleets get massive, I had to slow down the game speed to a point where it was painfully slow just so I could stay on top of everything.
