Computer cheat you hate

Post by The Yosemite Bear »

Least favorite AI cheat...

Mine: Computer seeing invisible units...

since fog of war only applies to the humans, it get's really bad trying to sneak a unit that can't be seen (allegedly) and then getting it gang banged... (Spies, cloacked ships, RTS, 4x it doesn't matter) Stealth units while very expensive only have their bonus powers against another human....

Speed cheats in RTS games wherebye the computer's production or movement increases temporarly to make the game more "challenging"

Which means if you pull off a stunning tatical victory(Guy with brick VS 20 M1A1's and guy with the rock wins) but the AI has another eight tanks crankened out before you can blink, nevermind the cost of said units or how long they take to produce

In Warcraft 2 the computer's mages (but no other units) can see invisible units. And in Warcraft 3 the computer produces units faster than its normally possible to build.

4 hard comps SC vs 4 players. I don't know how the comp does it but it never fails, 5 mins into the game no less than 2 players are dead or in another players base and 20-30 lots are knocking at the door. Tis evil. Oh great you got me thinking about sc agian. Have to get out my cd and play now...

Yeah, those SC games, really are bad, especially when I have just enough resources for a spawning pool, a dozen zerglings, and 4 hydralisks and I am being invaded by 60+ enemy troops in a rush, who are attacking faster then mine are....

That's probably becuase you don't know how to macromanage, not because the computer is any good in sc :D

Just fyi, a competent starcraft player should NEVER lose to the comp. :-p

In RTS...spedy computer production. Annoying.

But my personal hatred is either the dial a uber computer combo in fighting games or ultra super frame priority bullshit.

Oh look I jabbed...that activates Combo #4182765 which is a perfect Diving Roundhouse->Jab->Jab->Strong->Instant Super move.

or

Super priority..."Me ughum computer...me move rips through yours regardless that your move normally against anyone else would top out and cancel mine...Ha-Ha."

most annoying was the Quake 3 AI on the hardest levels. they just made the computer do like 4 times more damage then usual and never miss as long as they can see you.. if i remember correctly.
that can be applied to any FPS in general i guess

I've played last night the last mission from Dark elf campaign in original Warcraft 3. And just for fun, I activated the god/one_hit_one_kill cheat. Then I went with my heroes next to his base. The computer started pumping units like mad: almost 1 unit per second. There was such a large field of corpses around my heroes

Just so you know, the computer does not cheat in SC, it just doesn't have to wait for the mouse to move to do stuff. It is possible to replicate the rush force the computer does with the proper timing.

Heth, have you done the force rush successfully? How many SC computers can you go against, and win?

And Bear, how many computer opponents do you go against? Half-a-dozen? I mean 60+ units at once, ouch.

Actualy the AI does not cheat in Quake 3. The bots have super accuracy but their weapon power is same as regular.
I have to tell you something everything I wrote above is a lie.

They don't cheat, they just have a *REALLY* good aimbot. ;)

It's not really a cheat but for some reason I hated the AI for the Barney's in Half-Life. They never missed when they shot at something. Yeah it helped you, but it just didn't seem fair.

The AI (150cc and up) in Mario Kart (and Double Dash to some extent) is incredibly irritating. Not only are they practically invulnerable when they are off-screen (they don't fly up in the air when hit, just stop) but they somehow manages to get every "gift box" and always get speed mushrooms.

That's because that's in campaign. If you could just sally forth and destroy the first undead base at the beginning and win that way it'd be no fun, so if you try the computer does its darnedest to crush you. It doesn't cheat like that in normal multiplayer.

ok, my bad about the quake bots ( I play real games like UT  ).
for SC, when i was hardcore, 7 comps were fary hard to beat, but i could do it maby 60% of the time. It takes a lot of micromanagement and free time

I fid it really annoying in driving games where the computer car/ship/antigravity racer/whatever bumps into you doing about 20 and you fly off course, but if you plough into them doing >100 it does jack shit!

I've only been able to do it using 'tricks': as in, wallin with depots at choke and set up siege tanks behind, reapir. The attacking units won't be able to attack if you do it correctly.

But I spend my time vsing players, not computers ;)

Wow. That's impressive that they were able to make it to korea. Playing on the profressional level, or just to get a sense of the atmosphere there?

Darn, does that annoy me. It is hard enough for me (for some reason drivnig with a key board at hight speeds is not my forte). But the Computer vehicles ding me into walls and off the track, but when I return the favor (by accident, of course) I flail back and they are hardly affected. Granted some games work better than others. But I am surprised at the number of good games that remove that realism (especially if the claim to know gamers and their moods  ).
