Oh, hey, there's a pause button.
*smashes his head against various objects harder than bone*
Ok, I really like this game now. Got a Half-Orc Barbarian with a sword of fire +1 and of roses +3 that tore through those puny trolls. And with Minsc wielding the Sentient Sword those little comments make those long walks fun.

Since you didn't know there was a pause button, you should also be aware that you can set it up to auto-pause as well.

Just wondering, is Baldur's Gate II turn-based? I'm assuming not, since there is a pause button...

It is technically turn based, and in combat, you can make it pause between each turn to determine moves. But on it's own, it'll just go at the same speed.

How did you survive without the pause button in the first place?

I'm playing it right now, where do you get the sentient sword?
Not that I object to my +3 flameing sword of shapeshifter detection, but still.........

It's in the Copper Coronet(an Inn in the Slums area of Amn) basement area.
When you go into the first basement area you need to retrieve three things, afterwards you'll go to a place with three pipes, place the items on the right ones, and you'll be able to get Lilarcor.

Nope, off to one of the corridors is a hidden passage, in there is the basement.

Its continious turnbased.
A 'turn' is roughtly every six seconds. All actions are normalalize to "per turn" instead of "per second".
However, it effectively plays as a turn based game. Since you pause, change/add orders, unpause & watch the results, rince & repeat.
Like its said before, you effectively
need the pause button cause you "party" is braindead stupid.
Thats onething I like about Dungeon Siege, you generally dont have to baby each individual party member.
Infact, it would be very posible to port Baldur's Gate/Baldur's Gate 2 to Dungeon Siege. If you had the time todo it.

You mean the sewer-like area?
What do I need to get?

I highly recommend a Gityanki silver sword, and the neutralizer sword

Where do you get all these items?

The Gityanki sword comes in two parts, of which you get onewhen are ambushed by a bunch of Gityanki.
The neutralizer comes in IIRC 3 parts. Have to keep them the whole way

Ah yes, you mean the broken sword that backstabbing sea captian gives you.
I never did manage to find the second half.

I never did manage to find the second half.
IIRC you need to do/go somewhere, be ambushed by Githyanki, salvage the other half, and have it forged.
It has a 10 or 15% chance that on hit your opponent dies

I didn't, I quit around the Copper Coronet. Then I reinstalled it to give it another shot.
As for my party right now its my Half-Orc barbarian then Minsc, Yoshimo, Druid chick, Aerie, and Natalia just left.

One does not need romance! Only to vigorously apply my boot to the face of injustice!
