Does anyone know some good mp3 players I could download?
My Winamp is no longer running, and Windows Media Player is just horrible,
Is there anywhere good I could get something from?

What version of Winamp are you running? 5?

Yes I was, for some reason it keeps crashing. Taking half my computer with it.

Personally I like iTunes. It's slick, clean, and works better than Winamp ever did for me.

Is that the thing where you have to pay for the music?

No, that's the iTunes music store. The player is free.

I tried iTunes once, but for some reason the sound quality was bad enough for me to think about ripping my ears off.
Anyway, currently I use Winamp 5. Working like a dream for me.

Does iTunes run on Win98?
I don't see an option for it in the download options.

Did you try uninstalling Winamp and then reinstalling it? Whenever Winamp has given me trouble, that usually fixes it.

And if you absolutely can't make Winamp 5 run then I suggest you try Winamp classic.

dunno how it compares to winamp, but it completely trashes windows media player.

i'd recommend the
QCD Player. i downloaded it awhile ago and it works quite nicely, having an easy to use interface that's comparable to winamp. it doesn't have all the features winamp does, but it does have some bonuses that winamp doesn't, like being able to convert .ogg files to .mp3 and vice versa.

iTunes is for Windows 2000/XP only.

Personally i use Music Match Jukebox (Bog standard free version) combined with Creative Media Centre (for the EAX effects).

Try uninstalling Winamp (and deleting the whole dir).
Then reinstall it. In theory, it'll work again...

WA5 is a decent player, as is iTunes -- both use the same codec for playback.

I've tried MusicMatch Jukebox, but IMO it's too clumsy and bloated.

iTunes is kinda bloated too. No simple "shift/ctrl select a bunch of songs, set repeat and shuffle, listen away" like Winamp does.

True, but I really like the way it sorts by artist and album, and the auto re-naming of files, proper volume determination, and nifty features like that. I could never go back to Winamp.

Try Winamp 2.91. With a few of plugins, it can do almost everything that 5 can do, and I've never had a problem with it.

Is there a win32 port?

No. What'd be the point? XMMS is more or less a clone of Winamp, anyways.

I'm using that now. Thanks man.
