The slaves turn tail and run, the slave masters unable to keep them in line any longer. They themselves run out into the night, and the remaining wizards teleport out in a panic. "The battle is over, servitors of Tyr!" cries out Lord Khazar, holding up his massive warhammer. "We shall feast well tonight, after our wounds have been tended and funerals given. Well done, and Tyr bless all of us!"

"It would not be wise to celebrate just yet, we have not delt with the Night Masks Proper as yet"

(sounds like a great time to make an entrance)

As the enemy disperses, a blur streaks down the street towards the abbey. It stops just out of bow-range, resolving into a white-haired figure wearing a simple brown robe. The figure looks around, and seeing the dispersal of combatants, curses loudly, "Slaad-Spit, twice in one day?!". He then pauses, and shouts towards the wall "Permission to enter, and render aid?"

"Well..." Duncan said, "that was an...unespected evening, to be sure... Does anyone have a clue to what happened here?"

Walking through the grounds, smelling the charred and crispy flesh of the hobgoblins, Rahnortstows his shield, and walks back to the abbey. "This was a good day. Now what do we do."

Caoimhin hopped down of the wall and sheathed his blade once again. "That was quite spectacular."

I sit down, shift to full-human form, deactivate all the buff spells, lean against a wall, and rest.

Astinius surveyed the damage, and the canage was a sight to behold. bodies littered the now chared and cratered no-mans-land, a line of hundreds of blackednd corses laying where his wall of electricity had snaked its way around the battlefield. He felt a small tinge of pity for the horrible pain they went through, but they were humans. It was not his duty to feel pity. His duty was the weave and he felt comforted by the fact that he had nutralized many wasteful mages.

Having finally run out of targets for his arrows, Malkamar levitated himself down to the ground and began reclaiming arrows, glancing at Astinius. "Shadow Magic.." He murmured. "The bane of True Spellfire. Don't ever try to blast him with it. The resulting bang would be very, very bad." He rubbed his face, looking at the carnage. "The Night Masks can summon this.. This will be a tough battle ahead, my comrade."

"I almost learned that the hard way... When I try to absorb his spells, unless I can redirect the energy, it backlashes... smarts rather painfully. But yes, if the Night Masks can bring forth this, we are in for rough times. And I have also been charged by mystra with a sacred quest to stem the tide of negligent use of magic. I must put an end to the wastefulness of some magic users that is draining the weave... Lest we und up like Netheril again and risk losing everything."

"Netheril's easy life and vast civilization would be superior to cities where hobgoblins get turned against temples." Malkamar sighed. "I have to wonder if Lady Mystryl sent you this power in an attempt to stem my own ideas for the future, but that's for another day. These corpses will reek come morning, and we have many to give a proper burial. Fetch a shovel, my friend."

"Magic is a tool my friend. While I would love to see magic used for good on such a large scale, when it is used in that fashion, it breeds decadence, arrogance, and worst of all, drains the weave. We cannot afford to have another being like Karsus. Soon, I will be able to transcend the normal limitations on magic, I can feel it... But We can never let that goto our heads. Magic is a tool, a wonderful wonderful tool. One that must be properly maintained and cared for... or else t breaks and all we try to build would be for nothing... Bt yes, we have many a funerl to give"

Astinius goes to fetch a shovel

Caoimhin made his way down from on the wall to where the others were talking. Shaking his head as he approaches the carnage on the ground...

Tormantineth returns from a cleansing bathe in the river, having washed away all trace of blood and bttle from her hide. Her claws had marked more than one of the attacking mages, and several of the hobgoblins had fallen to her fly-by attacks

Astinius? Who was that big tiger thing that you were fighting? I thought he was fighting with us before he zapped you.[/i]

" I am under a sacred quest to rid the world of mages like him. He uses the insidious shadow weave, created by the evil godess shar to draw worship away from Mystra the godess of magic. The Shadow weave's only purpose is for evil... I had to destroy him"

Tormantineth thinks this over for a long moment, then her tail and wings droop Sorry I let him get away. I could have tackled him when he was running....

"That is ok, you had other things in your jaws and claws to worry about... I actually reduced him to a brainless drone, but Shar personally helped him..."

"The personal attention of Shar.." Malkamar sighed, shovelling still. "We're not going to be doing well against that. Like it or not, she's got alot of firepower." The Neth shook his head, forcing another body into a makeshift grave and speaking a prayer over it.

"Yes she does, but if sh could kill us directly, she would. Lord Ao has rules against that though." Said Astinius as he layed dirt over a grave and placed a grave marker in the soil.

Tash grunts something, to which Duncan only nods.
"As carnages go, this is a rather mild one. We've seen worse, by far. But so far, it was only done by mortals... I'm not used to this whole mythical, goddess quest thing..."
He looks at Astinius, when he spoke again. "And to you I have to say that shadows are not evil per se." Said, and suddenly vanished into the shadows. Only to reappear again. "If you know how, they can be a useful tool, my friend. But alas, what do we do now? They certainly will be back, with a vengeance..."

"We could do the suicidally heroic thing and rush them." Malkamar smirked as he started digging again. "I'm sure we could find their stronghold and try razzing it to the ground. Probably wouldn't work, though. We are powerful, but not immortal."

"Shadow itself can be a useful tool, but the shadow weave is far more insidious. It has nothing to do with spells like shadow walk, it is an alternative version of the weave that we use, one that was created by en evil godess to power the spells of people that should not be using magic n the first place."

"That actually could work... But you are right, it would be foolish"

"Well, I'm less inclined towards the suicidal rush plan," he chuckled. "I've had far too many of those in my life to have developed a liking for them. We could wait her, on known grounds, and wait for them... But we should be ready for it, resting and all"

"We cannot put these people in danger any longer, the next attack will probably not be on a scale that they are used to dealing with. An open attack wil not work, so they will probably try using assassins, or worse"
