I've been having IE freeze up on me for no apparent reason, particularly when trying to veiw any sort of picture file. Does any one know that it might be?
PS: Any one that has to be a wiseass and suggest a new browser gets their post deleted.

Try to empty the cache and restart IE.
Tools/Internet Options/
Click the Delete files and clear history buttons.

Of course the standard computing mantra:
Make sure you have download all the security updates & patches and are using the latest version.
And you might want to use SpywareBlaster, blocks known bad ActiveX modules

Use HijackThis. I had the problem you're having a short while ago and it was that bloody svchost.exe problem.

If you have a broadband connection, I would suggest removing IE altogether if possible, then D/L ing it again from microsoft, OR delete and use your restoration disk to put it back. that's usuallywhat I do when I have a problem I can't ID, in addition to cleaning up the registry with Regsupreme, right fter running spybot, then adaware, then defrag, regsupreme, virus scan, delete proggie, reinstall proggie....

IE cannot be totally removed from Windows (well, not without causing some problems). MSHTML.DLL still remains.

It's as updated as it gets. And it doesn't seem to be a spyware problem, I've run Spybot S&D and it's come back emtpy and so has AVG.

Spybot doesn't find everything ... run HijackThis with caution (because if you don't know what you are doing it gets nerve wrecking).
Anyway IE no longer works for me, I might get around to re-installing it some day, but eh.
