Anyone interested in a "cop show" RPG

This is sort of a preemptive question, I haven't planned anything yet (so more like if it's even worth considering). The idea is a sorta 70's/80's cop show, full of clichés and stuff, using very simple rules (I'm thinking FUDGE, the basic rules fit in about a single page ;)) with car chases, fistfights, shootouts, drug lords, ugly clothing, etc.

It can be considered some kind of playtesting thingummy. If there are enough people interested I'm going to watch a few of these crappy TV shows and read synopses and stuff to get game ideas :)

That actually sounds pretty cool, but only if my character can drive a car with a big block V8.

Starsky and Hutch is a good movie to watch if you are planning on this sort of thing. Lots of material.

Pray tell, what is this "Starsky and Hutch" that you mention? ;)

That sounds like what I'm thinking of, yeah.

Now that I think about it, cops in these shows always worked in pairs, any ideas how/if it could be done with more than 2 players?

You could make it like Hawaii 5-0. McGarrett ran a team of people. It was more the exception, with most shows/movies being single cop or buddy team. Have to have the sterotypical black police captain yelling at the cops all the time, and the flirty blonde secretary.

Will it involve zombies?

We could be part of a team put together to solve a specific problem. Just having the players be regular beat cops wouldn't be a good setup for a story anyway. Well it might, but not as good. :)

Oh, I think I know how I can handle it, yeah.

Sure, in these shows they were always some sort of supercops.

I'm not sure how to interpret that emoticon in this situation, so I'll just assume you don't know. It's a new movie with Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson based off an old 70's show.

But zombie cops would be fun! Enter the Zombie has that in a hong kong cop movie type setting complete with super flashy movie actions.

Hunter is on my list. Yep, I remember that one.

The shows I brainstormed were

Charlie's Angels
Starsky and Hutch
S.W.A.T.
Baretta
TJ Hooker
Chips
Cagney & Lacey
Hunter
Hill Street Blues
Miami Vice

Not that they're all appropriate I think C&L was more sentimental drama than cop show but I can't remember.

Well that's from All Flesh and is more the survival horror type (like Resident Evil or sumthin).

I'm interested, though I'd much prefer a 2004 setting

The actual year of the game is debatable, but I was more interested in the style of an 70's or 80's like "Hunter" or "Starsky & Hutch" show instead of "Law and Order" or "The Shield"
