What are some programs that people use to really make their computer their's? Stuff like...when you turn your computer on it greets you or when you get an email, an envelope shows up or something like that. I know there is a thing like that for Outlook Express but I can't remember what the program is called.
So?

Custom wallpaper sets most computers apart. At least at work. Nothing that would get you fired of course.
I don't like installing too much custom software cause you never know what some of that shareware stuff will do.

I generally put a little menu on the taskbar that lets me quickly access the desktop contents w/o minimizing everything (any computer with ActiveDesktop can do it), change the wallpaper and do a few other minor things.

most of the time i put quickstart icons in the taskbar that i'll be using frequently. emulators, winamp, other programs, etc. plus rearranging desktop icons to my liking. There's also Tweak UI, a program i've found invaluable for customizing windows.

Style XP if you want to change the skin of the system. Stay away from WindowBlinds.

Oh yeah I have four explorer bars on top of my screen (set to autohide and not "always on top" so I actually have to minimize my stuff). Very useful, and you don't need any special programs since Windows 98 or ME I think.
