Mine is 45 C. (oced by about 300 mhz w/ stock cooling). It should be average out lower now that i've returned it to stock speed pending a new cooling solution.

Currently running 42C CPU. Have just been playing a lot of games, so it's probably elevated a degree or three.

Shit. That's 143.6 degrees fahrenheit or 335.15 degrees Kelvin or 603.27 degrees Rankine

Hoo boy. I guess that's why it's always so hot in here...

You could cook stuff on that.

62C is well within the safe zone, however.

MBM is reporting 56 C on the CPU and 36 C for the case. I should note that I am primarily using quiet, low-airflow fans.

How hot can the average modern cpu get before it's in the danger zone?

80-90 C.

I echo that question. I need to know as well, since I've been having troubles with my computer lately and I want to know if it's overheating or something.

Currently 29 C. Average is not much higher than that.

EDIT: And it has now gone down to 28.

Most motherboards have a temp reader in the BIOS which you can often duplicate in Windows using software provided by the board manufacturer. Or you can just use MBM.

60C. Much lower than when the heat sink was so clogged with dust and dead insects that it started hitting ... shit, does anyone remember what it was when I posted?

Either way, it's farrrrrrrr cooler now.

I remember that. I think it was around 75C.

I expect you're reading the board temperature, not the processor temperature. A 29C processor would be very impressive.

34 degrees Celsius. The old P3-core Celerons run very cool; it's one of the reasons I still use one.

My Pentium M (the spiritual sucessor to the PIII) runs around the same temp, even in a notebook @ 1.5GHz. It's a shame that they don't market these things to the desktop crowd because I would pick one up for my desktop in a heartbeat.

My Anthlon 1.2 runs at 45C, 50C after playing 3d games. I will invest in better cooling when my athlon 3200xp arrives.

...I just realised that I upgrade my computer more often then I go on dates. I need a woman...

Anyway, back to the topic: yeah, once it hits 80 you're in danger of burning out, throw it away if it hits 90. However, that being said you will start to notice significant drops in performance after the 65 mark. P4s tend to be more stable at high temperatures then athlons, which is what you'd expect given the price difference.

Before my current cooling setup it would always run over 40.

MBM doesn't support Dell 4550 boards. Anywhere else I can find a temp monitor? MY google-Fu is weak.
