Games won't run properly

Okay, I've been trying to get USAF (a flight sim) to run. It starts, but it insists on remaining minimized for some unknown reason. I haven't changed any graphics settings since the last time I played. The only thing I've done to the system since the last time it worked was defrag the hard drive, and I doubt that defragging would cause this. Anybody know what the hell is going on?

Edit: X-Wing: Alliance is doing the same thing. I'm having to use Ctrl-Alt-Del to close the programs. CPU usage jumps to 100% when I run the programs. I really don't think that should be happening, but I've never checked before since its never given me a problem before.

That also happened to me before.
Updating my video card seemed to stop it from happening.

It worked yesterday. The game's the same and the computer is the same save for a defragged hard drive. Is there some sort of self-destruct to force you to upgrade the card or something? :wtf:

That is very strange. Have you tried reinstalling the game?
