My question, though, is what does he mean by "use the force on the TIEs at the beginning, and get a big surprise?"

How the hell do you fire a torpedo?

Press R, get a target lock, then hit mouse key right.
BTW, dont use torps against TIEs. They rarely hit, and you've only got six. Save em for bigger, beefier targets.

Get a target lock and use joystick button two. You're using a mouse with a flight sim? BLASPHEMY!

I got the lock couldn't figure how to fire it. I got it now. Game is rough but fun! No laser recharge!

The way the X-wing handles, a mouse is just fine.

I can take the fighters just fine, but keep dying against the star destroyers.

The game is almost too easy.

The fighters pose little problems...minor weaving eludes them and they basically have a poor circular pattern, and the ISD and SSD?

Accelerate past them and hit them from their ass...or ram the SSD after shields are down.

Still all in all it's fun and for me that counts more then difficulty.

Fucking eh, why can't anyone design a game where you play the Battle of Endor from the Imperial's perspective? I want to torpedeo Home One with a Missile Boat for fuck's sake!

Would be nice, but unless I'm in some shielded fighters not going out there with over 100 shielded rebels and a array of cruisers that the programmer set to "Kill Human!!!!"

And the Missle Fanwan...Gunboat would make it all too easy :P

Nah, with the improved AI in X-Wing Alliance (you know, where the capships actually SHOOT at your missiles) the Missile Boat becomes far less of a fanwank mobile.

True, I was more referring to the original TIE Fighter.

The weere worse in Allinace...but I dunno I guess really I wanted more still :P

In XWA they also cut the missile boat's top speed and eliminated the SLAM overdrive.

Oh, the Endor game still suffers from the shield generator brainbug. You have to destroy the sensor domes on a Star Destroyer before you can hurt it.

Pfft I say that's easily the lesser of the two brainbugs given I can still single handedly destroy a 1.6-17.6 KM long vessel....alone :P

Kind of redundant, isn't it?

Perhaps...but doesn't lessen the fact now does it?

Fun. Makes me wish I could find my copy of Tie Fighter, or X-Wing.

Has anybody beaten it? I can't keep Home One alive. >_< I take out shield generators on Star Destroyers, pump torps as fast as they'll reload, and shoot down every TIE that I can that even looks at it funny, but it still dies in the fifth stage.
