Search engine problems for a computer illeterate

Post by Anhaga »

I originally posted this in the OT forum:

"I installed the google toolbar a few months ago. Shortly after I did this, I was unable to access google or any search engine besides MSN. This problem still persists. I can get on to Yahoo but if I try to search it just says that the page cannot be found.
If I type in www.google.com, I get a message saying that "There is no website configured at this address".
Any ideas?"

Among the responses were these:

How the fuck could K-Meleon install a hijacker? It's fucking built on Mozilla, for fuck's sake. The only thing it has in common with IE is a user interface.

IE is more than likely the culprit. Mosey on over to G&C anyway.
So I've moseyed and I plead for help. I've been google-less for over two months now.

Start>Search>Files, Folders, etc.>type in 'HOSTS', no quotes, and open it with Notepad.

Then hit ctrl-A, make a post, then hit ctrl-V to paste into the post.
