Computer Problems

I've been having a problem trying to play thief 2, as soon as i start a new game it crashes back to windows with the following message:
ERROR:Direct3d device driver does not accurately report texture memory usage.
I have the latest video drivers and directx and it doesn't work.
Any ideas how to deal with this?

I have no idea, though I've heard about it happening. You might get more help if you posted this in G&C instead.

Did you try reinstalling your graphics drivers?

You might try running the DirectX diagnostics.

(Go to Run, and enter dxdiag)

Yes, the result is the same
You might try running the DirectX diagnostics.
I've tried it but there is nothing wrong.

incompatability with your graphics card maybe? not all games work equally well with all GfX cards.

Which video card do you have?

And this should be in G&C, any mods want to move it?

If you're running Thief download whichever of the following corresponds to your version of Thief

Thief 1.14 texture error fix
Thief 1.33 texture error fix
Thief Gold texture error fix

If you're running Thief 2 then go to your Thief 2 directory, open the user.cfg file and find the line that says ;safe_texture_manager

Remove the semicolon, and it should work.

And then go to Through the Looking Glass.

i did that and the only thing that changes is that i no longer get the error message, the screen goes black now :banghead:
