Game Doctor: Does it work?

I've got a few computer games with some light scratches on them (X-wing alliance is the only one I really want to play though)

A friend recommended I buy one of those "Game Dr." devices.

Before I shell out thirty bucks at the local gamestop for one, I just wanted to ask anyone here if they've ever used one, and if they have, how well does it work?

I havent used one myself, but my local video game store will pop a damage disc in and give it a spin for about a half-dollar. They work wonderfully; my ancient and scratched up Alpha Centauri disc looked brand new after a run through it. :)

How bad does the damage have to be before the Game Dr. can't help your casualty of war?

It wont repair cracks in the disc, but it will get rid of just about any scratches, stains, etc. Well worth the 30 bucks, IMO, if you have alot of damaged discs.

It brought my m002 and my x-com disks back from the beyond...
