You may be waiting quite a while on that one. Square doesn't currently have a sequel to CT under development (unless you count the already released Chrono Cross) although they probably will do one eventually.Stormbringer wrote:Sweet, though I do wish they'd hurry up on the sequel to Chrono Trigger.
Neither can I. When I visited it yesterday they had taken some of the sound samples down because of heavy traffic, maybe the site is down totaly for the same reason.Durandal wrote:Can't find the server on this end.
True, but from browsing their forums, I noticed that they WANT to do the full game, and they are probably looking for popularity through the demo before getting the backing to do it. They will never be able to sell it, but as long as they don't, Square probably wont have a problem with it. According to the site admin, they had hits from the Square-Enix Japan server on the first day...McNum wrote:They're not doing the full game. The want to make a demo with their favorite scenes from Chrono Trigger. Making the full game is both more likely to get Square-Enix after them and much more time consuming than they want it to be.
The problem is, most of the people who worked on CT and CC no longer work at Square. If Sakaguchi was still around, I have no doubt that there would be a third game (the Chrono series was his baby), but as of right now it doesn't look good. Square is still smarting over the huge bomb that was FF: TSW and until they start to feel secure again, they won't be making much except for sure-fire success titles.Vohu Manah wrote:I could settle for this instead of a CC sequel, at least until Square-Enix figures out the project is worth doing.
They gave up the trademark on the name some months ago. More to the point, Yasunori Mitsuda has been quoted as saying that he'd love to work on Chrono 3, but as far as he knows no such title is under development. If Square-Enix WAS going to make Chrono 3, Mitsuda would know about it.BlkbrryTheGreat wrote:I heard they were working on one actually, even reserved the name "Chrono Break" for it.
i don't think we've been given any sort of confirmation to this. only that the name chrono break was filed at a trademark office. For now all we know is that they might have plans to work on the game in the future, but it's not known for definite.BlkbrryTheGreat wrote:I heard they were working on one actually, even reserved the name "Chrono Break" for it.
