Wow. Thats the only word for it.

Anyoen subscribe to XBox Magazine? I got a demo disk with my most rescent issue, and i played the most amazing, innovative, refreshingly well done game i've ever seen.

It's called Psi-Ops: the Mindgate Conspiracy. (thsi synopsis comes from watching the DEMo's cutscenes, the actual game might be different) The concept is you are Nick Scryer, a powerful psionic and special operative for the US government, who operated for a government sactioned 'accademy' called Mindgate. But Mindgate was detsroyed, and world peace threatened, by a force of psionic neo-nazis called The Movement, led by a guy called The General.

As the last Mindgate operative, and with a surgically reconstructed face, you most infiltrate The Movement and use your psychic powers to defeat their legions of red-eyed super soldiers. You have several powers--telekinesis, pyrokinesis, mind drain, remote viewing, mind control--and you can use them IN ANY WAY YOU WANT to complete a mission.

Dont knwo what's on the other side of a door, eh? In most third-person action adventures that's the kiss of death, an ambush waiting to happen. Not in Psi-Ops. Remote view through the door, learn you enemy's positioned, peak through, mind control one, have him kill the others, then kill himself. You've just taken out four people without fring a shot. In fact, though they give you a submachine gun and a pistol, i never once fired a shot in the whole demo. Ever. EVER!

I TK 'surfed' across huge chasms, i mind drained people to death, i set off huge explosions with pyrokinetic blasts, i lifted a guy's gun off the ground and smacked another enemy to death with it. There is no linear gameplay. You are given a goal (cross a chasm, turn off a generator) and you complete it however you want. TK, PK, mind control, mind drain, and remote viewing are all done excelently. It was fun, fresh, innovateive, and never once boring. You can only play two levels on the demo, but you can play through them in a vast number of ways. Electrical floor keeping you down? Mind control an enemy, have him jump on it and short it out for you. It's that simple.

I cant wait until teh full version is out. If you area fan of action games, this is the one for you. Now if only they would make a Psi-Ops Grand Theft Cranium. That would be just rediculously kickass.
