And I don't know what the fuck is going on. Once again, they've sold a game with an utterly useless manual.

Any good victoria players want to advise me on how the hell to start, and why my country is hemmoraging money the moment the game starts?

As with all Paradox games (incase you didn't catch on yet) you want to download the latest patch and read the Victoria FAQ forum on official site.

HoI I learned in a matter of minutes- Victoria is micro-management x 100. Of course, I have installed the 1.03 patch; but where's the FAQ? Is it a big mother? Do you mean the paradox official site? Or strategyfirst?

Basically I get by by simply ordering an excess of what materials I need from the market, and I always have it set to buy machine parts. What part of the game particularly confuses you?

Erm- the entire economic model. I have no idea what's going on. Trade system, all that stuff. And I can't *stand* having negative income.

What's a good country to start off with? After seeing what I was up against, my plan to play as any country with anything approaching 100 or more provinces was quickly scuttled- until I learn, anyway.

Two Sicilies is easy and you get to colonize inner Africa faster if you conquer the crappy North African states and use them as a jumping board.

As for the economic system, I have no idea at all how to make it work.

I was disappointed with Victoria. Micromanagement sucks.

The Dutch are suprisingly easy if you overwhelm Belgium fast enough. It's OK to use the "Neville" cheat to force the AI to accept peace deals, because it's incredibly stubborn to the point of stupidity (ie, 30% warscore in your favor and it won't accept a white peace).

I think there's a revised, user-made manual available for download on the forums. Get it- it's an excellant help.

The best way to learn is to browse the Paradox forums long enough. There's an FAQ section that's great for newbies.

Brazil's actually an excellent nation to learn the ropes with, simply because you're in no real danger. You're the biggest kid on the block in South America and you're already partially industrialized, with a decent income from rare resources.

Any idea where I can find the user made manual? No luck so far.
