Bloody Hell(monitor problems) EDIT:NEW MONITOR WOOTWOOT!!!

Today as I was playing a game there seemed to be a power surge in my room. My overhead light and my monitor flickered, while my TV and computer weren't effected. My monitor is hooked up to a nice surge protector. Only my monitor didn't come back on. It happened about a week before but after a few minutes it started working again. This time it's been several hours and it's not working. I opened it up to see if I could spot a problem. I hooked another monitor up to my PC but it worked perfectly fine until windows completely started up, then it would freak out and start quickly moving across the screen. I could make out my desktop barely. I notice the fuse on mine and take it and the fuse from my old monitor out, me and my dad check them out, the voltage is the same, but the fuse from my new computer does not list an ampage rating. My dad says the thats only important for when a lot of current is running through the computer and if they had different amp ratings it really wouldn't matter unless there was another surge. So I plug it in, close my newer monitor up and plug it in, the monitor turns on but I hear an electric scratching sound in the back and it flicks off. My dad thinks the problem is somewhere else in the monitro, but were going to try to get a new fuse of the same time tomorrow. If not I need a new monitor. Til then I'm stuck on my mom's shitty iMac that has a 56k modem that runs slower than a 36k.
