Bitching about Armada mod.
Has anyone managed to win the Battle of Endor as the Rebels, playing the Trek/Wars mod for Armada 1? I just can't do it.
The Empire starts with a shitload of shipyards, the Rebels with none. So I have to try and build shipyards, then build the zillions of fighters I need to hold off the constant zerg-rush attacks, then I need to figure out a way to get within striking distance of the Imperial base without getting pwned by the death star and the eleven trillion TIE bombers the AI has built.
I can't concentrate on all this shit at the same time, on the scale required. If there were just a "keep building ships constantly" button on the shipyards, I'd be a lot better off. As it is, I constantly have to go back and click to make another five X-Wings, when I go through fucking thousands of the things.

If Religion and Politics were characters on a soap opera, Religion would be the one that goes insane with jealousy over Politics' intimate relationship with Reality, and secretly murder Politics in the night, skin the corpse, and run around its apartment wearing the skin like a cape shouting "My votes now! Just google "Star Trek Armada mods" and a bunch of mirrors will pop up. The mod in question the Star Trek vs. Star Wars mod.
And no, I haven't won as the rebels. I also haven't won the DS9 battles as the federation. That shit's hard.

When I feel like it, I'm going to go back and see if I can manage to build a Centerpoint Station and use that to win somehow. I was just using it in an instant action game on the "tic tac toe" map, and it's insane. Whatever the max range is, it's greater than the length of that map. Just blockade the wormhole that leads into your box with fighters and gun emplacements, build a Centerpoint, and annhilate everything on the map that isn't you.

Yep, that worked. Centerpoint has practically unlimited range, and enough power per shot to sweep more than a full screen's worth clean. Just build a couple and use them to wipe out the Imperial base, then pile ships onto the death star until it blows.

Just dled the conversion today, was playing around with the Empire and Rebels. Man Centerpoint hurts. My sat com was a good distance away from my target so I didn't see how much damage it had caused. Second shot was near a large Klingon fleet and instead of crippling them like I intended, I won.

Frankly, Centerpoint is just way too powerful. It's infinitely more destructive than the Death Star as it appears in the game, and it requires only 50 officers, one-fifth what an Executor or a Pulsar Station needs.
In that last Tic Tac Toe game, I built three of the fuckers and proceeded to blow up the entire map. I don't do it anymore though, it's too damned easy.
