It's a 20-dollar direct to bargain bin game for PS2, and if you like 40 levels of massive blood bath killing sprees against repetitive enemies this is the game for you. Basically you advance through the levels killing things and periodically arrive at large arenas in which you must fight waves of attackers from all directions for a while. There are also a limited number of puzzles and generally to advance you need to kill everything in certain areas first, so the game play isn't linear. The visuals aren't particularly high quality but the environments look very nice.
It is however a game which must be played co-op, playing alone can get boring since your not competing with anyone for kills. But with my friend, well we've played at least 10 hours in three multi hour blocks in the last two days... the only thing that stops us is the shear amount of time required, each level takes 10-15 minutes, and the fact that your hands will cramp up

There is. Once again, keyboard and mouse triumphs
The joy of walking into an arena, seeing the large health and armour power ups sitting there and knowing whats about to happen. The battle in the field just before the final boss was epic

The PC version kicks major ass, but make sure you get the First Encounter, as well. It's the superior of the two, I think, and the end boss is REALLY bad ass... if I recall correctly, he's something like 400 feet tall.

The end Boss of next encounter is easily 400 feet tall; and so fucking annoying to kill. You have to blow off all his armor, and then shoot him in the head to cause damage, only his armor will respawn after about a minute and all the while he's shooting at you and other crap is spawning to attack you. Playing Co-Op it took a good 15 minutes to do it (this was on easy difficulty).

SS at a Lan is just INSANE. Everyone running every which way blasting away, trying to cover each other as insane monsters come charging at you at VERY high speeds....

Serious Sam is one of the coolest games ever- however, I'm sure the PS2 version looks like horse-shit compared to the PC version.

Thanks for clearing that up.
Now I shall return to my immense collection of games with actual plots, and won't bother you further

You kiddin'? The Serious Engine is very no-frills, focusing more on creating a world where killing hundreds of enemies is possible.

There is something very satisfying about the fact that if you miss the target you intended to hit, your bullet won't be wasted as it must hit one of the 20 other badies behind him.

Or use the cannon balls to smash several monsters in a row.

Actually, he's right on in that assesment.
Check it out for yourself. The Xbox version looks good though if you really want a console Serious Sam.

Can you use nukes in that game?
Im seriously looking for a game that let's you drop a nuclear warhead on someone...something...maybe a military base or a city.
F18 Korea had the B-61 warheads, but it's old now...

The ion painter in UT2Kx is the closest thing to a nuke I can think of. Hold the painter's lazer on a point for 2 seconds, then 3 space-based ion cannons fire beams that converge on the target.
