Cossacks: Art of War...aka TOO FUCKING HARD

Aaag! This game is impossible. Playing on EASY, I played a mission in which you have to take control of a Prussian village and launch an assault on an Austrian stronghold. Of course, Austrian cannon were continually sweeping the village, thus destroying about 60% of my non-replenishable force and keeping me from launching an effective attack.

And then there's the mission were you have to fortify a Prussian town (but you can't build walls for some weird reasons) and repel Austrian attacks while seeking aid from local bandits. Before I could elicit the bandit's aid, I was overwhelmed by WAVE AFTER WAVE of assaults that totally swamped my small force before I could churn out more troops.

Aaaagh! It's just like Cossacks: European Wars! Bloody impossible!

Avoid it's twin like the plague....ugh...

American conquest = Cossacks with -harder- difficulty....it lists most of the problems you have it and then some.

American Conquest is fucking *impossible*

But Cossacks is fun. Put some good quality practicing time in skirmishing and easy opponents are actually pretty easy to waste. Mediums take a little doing, I've not beaten a hard yet.

But really, it's not too bad. Just give it some practice and make sure you're utilizing all of the features of the game (ie formations).

Part of the problem is the all-or-nothing time settings - at least Entente (WWI) lets you adjust the gamespeeed.
