WEG SWRPG Game?

Any one up for one of these? I was thinking we could do one of the more epic campaigns (I.E. The Far Orbit Project) or, failing that, any other such thing. I'd be willing to GM, though it'd probably be best to get someone a tad more experienced then me to do it...

I'm not into epic or large-scale SW campaigns, but the opportunity to use one of my devised SW D6 characters is tempting.
I could probably do a good job as GM, but I'll pass on volunteering unless nobody else offers to take the position or supply/devise an adventure.

How are we supposed to run it?

Most are done either over chat (AIM, MSN, etc), or right in a thread in Gaming & Computers. Depends on what people that are interested want to use in terms of gameplay and rules. My vote would be for running it on the board, as I've seen several games run successfully using the forum, which has the bonuses of flexible time for sessions and turns, accessibility by everyone, and an inherent backlog of turns and game information.

Yeah, the board worked very well for the D&D game untill it went belly up due to inactivity. So, just us three or are more people going to join us?

Forum games are very slow moving (unless you run them STGOD shitstorm style, which is fast-paced but most will be left out at any given time), so campaigns should be short and limited. Plan for a story arc that can be completed in 2 or 3 sittings if it were tabletop and it should end just as people start getting bored with it. Then you can continue those characters with a fresh story.
EDIT: One hour tabletop playing time has equaled about 2-4 weeks forum time in my game.

Count me in, if this is going to be an imperial campaign

I'd be interested in one as well, but would need something online to refrence since I never got any of the books, and never actually played it.
Got close in 7th grade band class, but we never really played, just setup.

Consider me interested. I have a number to the books. I am a player but always happy to help the GM. One more PBEM game won't hurt me.

Well, if Shep's going Imp I will gladly follow as a loyal soldier of the Empire!

Looks good. Now who is going to GM this, or do we have to draw straws?

Seeing as I have a big SWRPG collection

Count me in, but someone will have to either have to tutor me or give me the WEG equivalent of the System Reference Document.

I just happen to have my Specforce Handbook at the ready. Should we be a Storm Commando team? There the biggest badasses short of the Royal Imperial Guards and Jedi.

NO! Please no! My ship's engineer/tech just wouldn't work in that team...
::breaks down crying::
That being said, what are we doing?

Finding a Rebel starfighter base and killing everyone in it, to stop
those pesky raids on Imperial Convoys in the sector

Actually, it would, very well. StormCommandos have widely varied
mission objectives, and someone being able to operate a ships' engines
and/or repair them after a seizure mission would be needed in political
gain operations, where you want to make one side think that the
other side has fucked them over....and what better way to do this
than to use the ship that's going to deliver supplies to NUKE THE
BASTARDS

Imperial death squad, eh? Count me in. Like the others, though, I am clueless about the mechanics of WEG.

how about we do this in an AIM chat, at set times? Say, like at 6PM
EDT? for an hour every day?

Me too, but we can learn along the way
Seriously RPGing is about a story, and well, we can just make up our
own system rather than sticking exactly to WEG D6 rules, to prevent
"OMG he killed me! No he didnt!"

Sounds good, though figuring out everyone's schedule could be a hassle. And, of course, the Shit Happens factor (like I doubt I'd make a 1800 game on 16 June, as I have a function I
will be attending).

How far ahead/behind is EDT compared to GMT?

No you're not. I've seen what you did to the STGOD, I have
no wish to see this happen to my game.
