Video extracting, etc software wanted

Something like VirtualDub, except I'm taking suggestions both freeware and paid. Any ideas?

Sony's Vegas is probably your best bang for the buck, even if it is relatively pricey.

Then a copy of Ulead's "VideoStudio" will run just fine. I'm not a fan of Ulead's software, but it hasn't failed me yet. (Basically a watered-down version of Adobe Premiere with a bloated interface.)

Pinnacle Studio is cheaper and a superior NLE.

Cheaper than free? (Ulead gives VideoStudio out with just about damn near any nVidia video card or motherboard.)
