Wireless Router Goes Poopy

Gah, this is the second time now. The first time was undertsandable when it went all shit-like...I didn't set it up right. But I corrected all that, and things were peachy.
Until this morning. I was using my laptop, and had downloaded Zone Friends and ICQ, installed them and had them going. Now I'm not sure what may've happened, but the wireless router itself went to hell and refused to work altogether...both for my laptop and the directly connected desktop. It was either ICQ, which had just started up, or Zone Friends which finally decided to connect after much trying on it's behalf earlier. I have no clue if either of those had any cause in it or just plain dumb luck, but the thing went to shit and I can't even make it work to do the settings thing! And those are the only two new applications I had going and they both were working around the same time.
Any ideas whatsoever? It's a NETGEAR 54 Mbps wireless router (WGR614v2). We use Earthlink Cable to connect to the internet, set up by Brighthouse. If that even helps.
EDIT: The direct connect (wall, to the little black router box, to the PC) works just fine, and I'm using it now. But when it goes up to the wireless router it won't work, no matter how many times I plug and unplug the wires.
