One of these broke off an old video card I have. It's around a quarter of an inch long, a little yellow rectangle. Can anyone tell me what type of thing it is?

I don't know. Maybe a transistor?

What it looks to be is a polarized surface-mount electrolytic capacitor.

Its an electrolytic capacitor. I can't make out what its rating is though. Can't you just solder it back on? I did that to my GF3 when I tried to mount an old socket 7 heatsink onto the GPU (stupid Visiontek put one RIGHT next to where the clip would go through the PCB).
