Recommendation on getting a gaming computer.

Post by Anarchist Bunny »

Well with me working a full time job now, I've decided to get a new computer to replace my 2 year old 6GB HD piece of shit. I'm gonna charge it and pay off a fraction each month to establish credit, so I'm aiming at a $800-$1000 max cost(no alienware level stuff). I was wondering of some recomendations on a place to get a gaming PC(one store I went to had PCs, but none really had an exceptional Vid Card), online and IRL, and some advice on what to look specs to look at in getting a gaming PC.

NO. There are better ways to establish credit than to do this. Do you really want to be paying 20% interest?

I've heard favorable things about GamePC.com and they let your customize to rather extreme levels.

while i don't advise charging it to your credit card, one place i keep recommending that has some good selections is IBuyPower. Custom configurator and selections of powerful machines for well under 1 grand.

Last Gaming PC I bought was at Dell - they have a special line of 'gaming' computers, but I think that's a tad overkill. Most competent PC enthusiasts can get a better bang for their buck by building it themselves. That said, I've had nothing but good things to say since I switched to the Radeon 9800XT Pro graphics card.
Note: I'm semi-retired from the board, so if you need something, please be patient.

Best method of doing this is depending on your proffesion and the bank your with its belive it or not

Acutal cheaper to take out of a loan and pay it back than charge it to a credit card

My last computer I had some money saved up but I decided to blow extra on brand new (IE 300$ above normal market cost) compents and I need a little extra to make up the difference, so I strolled on down talked with my local bank and took out a personal loan at 14.4 Intrest Rate(Which does not even start till I'm six months in) and I should have it payed off roughy two months after that

Meanwhile the one time I tried the credit option(With my old Dell Laptop) I had no end of hassel trying to get payments in before their cutoff date(Since they apperntly still wanted to charge me 20$ late fees despite the fact I was not in the Contentinal US at the time and yes that's why that payment I sent you is postmarked Decemeber tenth and you got it Jaunuary Second)
