Very odd Anti-aliasing

Post by Captain tycho »

Just got my new computer, and I love it. However, something has been bothering me. Whenever I flip on Anti-aliasing, say in Ground Control 2 or NWN, the game lags. Not just a bit here and there, but game breaking LAG. The rest of the settings are pumped up to the max, and there is zero lag even in the largest battles, but turn on anti-aliasing...you get the picture. Card is a fully updated GeForce FX 5200.

The FX 5200 is not really the world's best performer; in places it is actually behind the GeForce 4 Ti 4200.

If you want FSAA, turn some of the other quality settings down.

The FX5200 has a horrible memory controller that goes to pieces whenever you turn on AA (or AF, to a lesser degree). You need at least an FX5700 if you intend to run AA on modern titles.
