Probably around $50. That's what most new FPS games seem to be going for, anyway...

I handily surpass the minimum reqs, but I still want that 6800 sometime next month or September.
And I wasn't planning to buy it anyway, but I think I might change my mind.

New concept comp from
IBuyPower: 3ghz p4, 512mb pc3200 ddr400, gf-fx5900, 80gb maxtor hdd, $848.
I think it's worth it...
EDIT: AMD Concept: AMD Athlon64 3000, 512mb pc3200 ddr400, gf-fx5900, 120gb maxtor hdd, price $888.
Seems more powerful for $40 more...

I meet all those specs, but I plan just to rent the game for X-Box, so I don't need to worry about that.

I think it's either the 3.0 or 3.2 GHz Pentium 4.

Thanks. Athlons always get me confused.
the 3000+ is liek a 2.16, but they said to me athlons run more quickly and are equivilent to a higher pentium. I wish there were a damn formula or something.

Games largely don't notice CPU requirements. I don't know if Doom III will be a difference, but that's been my experience.
All you really need to do is to get a good video card and you should be fine. 1.8 GHz shouldn't be too much of a bother; just turn down some of the eye candy.

it says that the min is a Geforce 3 or an equiv. That would mean a 4400 should be ok, right?

Running it would be fine. Running it EXCELLENTLY on the other hand...

Oh yeah. DEFINITELY running this game at near-minimum quality, and not minding that in the slightest. I'll pick up a 6800 GT or something by September or so...
Though I MIGHT go with a RAM upgrade... 512 PC-3200 is starting to seem kinda... small.

Ok lesee here:
CPU: 1.5GHz Mine = Athlon XP 2.13GHz........ *ding* Should be ok
RAM: 384mb Mine = 256mb.........*bzzzzzt* Gotta fix this. I had always intended on getting more RAM but Ive just kept procrastinating and spending my cash on other things.
HD: 2gigs free Mine = 41.5 gigs free out of 80gigs........*ding* No probs here, I doubt anyone ever has HD space problems for games.
Vid Card: GeForce 3 graphics card or better Mine = Geforce 4 Ti4200...... *ding* I'd like to get a newer one, but this one will just have to suffice for now and it should be OK for this.

These system requirements would mainly be to utilize every last bit of graphic and effects programming they can code in right? I've always gotten games that were supposedly too much for the comp but would run fine with normal specs or toned down graphics. So I'm betting as to be able to squeeze every last dime out of everyone. So I wouldn't sweat a damn thing.
