WoW Beta, anyone?

Post by Alferd Packer »

I just got into it. Well, I got in a month ago, but I was in Germany, so I can only just start playing now. Anyone else here in the Beta? Any suggestions/recommendations as to what I should try out?

My dad has it, I could try asking him. You want suggestions on race and class, I'm assuming.

"You're prepared for a giant monster made entirely of nulls stomping around Mainframe?!"

"That is correct!"

"How do you plan for that?"

"Uh... lucky guess?"

I guess so. I plan on trying just about everything, but if there's a particular combo I should try sooner, rather than later, then so much the better.

Well next patch they adding the Hunter class, and I think that patch is only a week or so off. I play a 36 human mage on the Beta server and have found it to be very enjoyable, far more than I ever enjoyed my Wizard in EQ. My advice; work the character up to around 25 (only takes a week or so) before you move to another. To get a "feel" for the character you have to put some time into it. There's also talents, which, as I'm told, will be given to ALL classes next patch as well. There's really a lot to look forward too in the up and coming patch. Back to the point; my suggestion is to play each class for a few weeks before dropping. And, I should add, as the beta progresses you may have to revisit classes, as they are ever changing. Aside from where you generally hunt, there isn't any racial differences YET, so focus on class and side rather than race.

DAMN you powergame. What do you do, play 8 hours a day? Or is there something I'm doing wrong here?

Anyhow, at a friend's request I'm playing a lvl 15 human paladin with mining and blacksmithing, intending to specialize in weaponry. Right now I've got about 40 skill points. I'm trying to decide whether to save them and upgrade my blacksmithing or blow 30 on learning how to use swords. Mostly I'm waiting to talk to my friend, he's on vacation all month.

Shall we give each other our character names?
My most used is Mazy, on Beta server.

Say, at what level would you say you start to actually participate in PvP on the PvP server? Is it any good yet?[/quote]

Well I am a mage ;)

But I do get in ~5 hours a day (weekday) and many, many, more on the weekend. Getting to level 15 should only take about 12 hours or so.

What are you doing wrong? I dunno, not questing perhaps? Quests yield delicious amounts of experience and can provide you with all the items you'll ever need (save, perhaps, recipies). Though you do get more skill points by just killing monsters, I'd rather quest myself. There are some VERY VERY fun quests. If you ever get the opertunity, do the Vancleef quest, which follows many "killl the defias" quests. And if you are horde, well then, never mind.

From what I've found it mostly boils down to whether you want to be alliance or hord; that said, my dad plays hord and recommends a troll shaman, he's having a blast with it.

I actually started up a troll shaman a bit ago and it's been a metric asston of fun. Good balance between nuking and buffing.
