Anyone paying that amount is really dumb!
And it's up to 10mil now...

Holy shit!
Wait... it usually takes a few days for it to ship on eBay, and the game comes out on Thursday...
What a retard. I wish I had gotten an early copy of Doom 3 and done that.

The original price was $80. Someone ruined the entire bid by jacking it up to high and then everyone else just kept on with the joke.

More then 20 million now... I suspect that the offer is a joke. I mean who the hell would pay 20 million to get some damn game a few days ahead of schedule?

2 minutes to go now, and it's up to twenty million!
EDIT: And it's just ended! Final price: $20,000,100

I'd suspect there are people that stupid out there.
Final price: $20,000,100.00
This guy is onto something.
Now I'm re-doubling my efforts to get Half Life 2 a few days early.

Whats irritating is the person who put the item up for bid now has to restart the bid or have E-bay throw out the joke bids.

Well, the winning bidder could always pay in installments of only $833345 per month!
Seriously though, did Doom 3 even cost $20m to make?

LoL!!! As long as it took them, probably. LoL!!! However, whoever was holding this auction could at least get the fake bidders to have thier accounts yanked off of ebay. Not only that, if the winning bidder doesn't pay the $20mil joke or not, he could hold his ass to it, since your bid is a contract as stated while making your bid.

now that the this bid got screwed up the whole point of the guy holding the bid to sell the game before it comes out in stores is pretty much ruined.

Reminds me of that letter Microsoft sent to Mike Rowe - he got bids of several million for the letter, but ended up with "only" around $10,000.
I think it's some kind of EBayer's variant of Russian Roulette - you pump up the bid to completely insane amounts, while trying not to be the final bidder.

Lots of people have their hands on retail copies of the game as we speak. Some places got it very early. Why pay a ridiculous amount when you can pick it up for 60 bucks NOW at certain locations?

This is why I don't trust eBay.
It'd really be interesting if that joke bid was taken seriously by the law...
Would feel sorry for the guy.

if you look at the bid page and scroll down, you see that all of the fake bids were tossed out.
