Playstation 2 vs XBox vs GameCube

I personally have a Playstation 2, but I'm considering buying an XBox after my next paycheck. There are a few games I want that are only out on the XBox. The reason I bought the PS2 in the first place was because of rumors I've heard about XBox instability (it is a Microsoft product, after all) and because of Final Fantasy X.
I can't think of any reason I'd want the GameCube. The raw contempt Nintendo has for the more mature gamers just sickens me.

All three and quite happy with each.

While the Xbox provides the greatest weight for use as a bludgeoning weapon, this acts against it when it comes to finesse and speed. On the other end of the scale, the Gamecube can be a fantastic asset for a skillful combatant, but lacks the weight to guarantee the kill. The Playstation2 tragically, has the worst of both worlds, with lousy balance, and too little heft to make up for that.
Personally, I would use an X-box for my melee needs, resorting to usng the controllers if speed was needed. PsOnes make fantastic missile weapons to complete your arsenal. I hope that helps.
Seriously though, I'm with GR, I got all three, because each of them ends up getting games that I desperately crave that the others don't support.

I own all three and i am also quite happy with all of them. (except for the size of the xbox which i need a fucking pully system and a set of paul bearers if i want to take it anywhere with me)

The attitude of fucking morons who wouldn't know a good game if it bit their genitals off sickens me, but there's no accounting for taste now is there.
Mature gamers are people who know that the quality of a game is nothing to do with its visual design, or how much stage blood and swearing it can muster, and everything to do with its quality as an interactive experience. Nintendo deliver that in spades, both in key franchises like Zelda and Mario and in their fringe titles like Animal Crossing.
You, sir, are wrong.

I like the Xbox.
Nothing personal.

It does have one advantage though, the controllers have just the right cable length for an effective flail, the Cube's controller is too small and light, whereas the Xbox's heavy beast can leave an impression, but the 3m cable means it takes too long to get up to speed.
The PS2 also has a plethora of sharp pointy corners, it relies on finesse, not weight or speed, to do its job.

I have a PS2, but I still want the others so I can play the games unique to each one.

I agree completely with vendetta, it is ignorance stated in the above that get great systems like the game cube ignored by the general gamers. Just because all the games don't have blood in gore in them doesn't mean they are not for mature gamers. Unless that is all you are looking for in games then there is not much else that can be said

I have a PS2. I feel no major need to get any other units.
My sister has an X-Box, and she's in school 6 hours a day.

Ok, I spent 20 minutes trying to find a way to defend myself. Turns out I can't. You are very right on the visual quality and R-Rated statement. To me, the most fun games were on the SNES anyway. Gotta love emulators.
Nevertheless, I will still never buy a GameCube. There are no games that would make the system a viable purchase for me. Zelda is fun and all, but Link is nowhere near being worth $100+ for the ability to see him. Beyond that and Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles, there are no games for the system that I want to play that aren't available on PS2 or XBox. Mixed with a controller that I find both ugly and poorly shaped for my hands and the GameCube would be a large waste of my money
I find it amazing that so many people have all three systems. I got away with none of them until about a month ago. The PS2 is more than satisfying for my needs. I just want an XBox for Superman, Batman, and Star Wars.

I have all three and actually have more games for the 'Cube than the others.
Try the Resident Evil remake and Resident Evil Zero, then take a look at the upcoming RE4.

The Rogue Squadron games are GC exclusives. They rock.

GCN all the way, has so many games I want(most number of exclusives), and there aren't many not on it I'm interested in. If I had to choose another I'd pick PS2, I've considered getting one, and I'll admit it has the wider selection of games, especially with previous system support.
And I know what you mean about Nintendo's raw contempt for mature games, I mean all those cute cuddle creatures in all the resident evil games, and the childish theme of Eternal Darkness, and how they chickened out on a graphic defeat of Ganondorf in WW. The milder themes in GC Metal Gears and Splinter Cells. They always put that gameplay shit first, who the fuck wants that, what makes a game is advanced breast simulation engines and Evil Dead level gore.

GC has Super Smash Bros Melee, Super Mario Sunshine, MGS:TS and Metroid Prime. You could buy the system for any.

First I got a Gamecube, and I love it. Then I got an XBOX and I love it. I kind of want a PS2, but there are only a few PS2 exclusive games that I'm interested in. That added to the fact that it has the worst graphics of the three, and it's still the most expensive one (fucking retarded Sony) doesn't make it too attractive to me. But, I'll end up getting one eventually.

PS2 and XBox. I'll probably get a GC for the exclusives. I like the PS2 for GTA and Kingdom Hearts. I like hte 'Box because of the power and harddrive.

Four words. Mario Kart: Double-Dash. That alone was enough to make me buy a Gamecube. Four controllers, Three friends, and plenty of alcohol makes for a thoroughly entertaining evening
I also have a PS2, mainly for the Squaresoft and Smackdown games. Ahhhh, nothing like bland philosophy followed by mind-numbing violence when I get bored

I want to get all three. Xbox and its HALO goodness, GC for its smash bros. and Zelda sweetness, and PS2 for its shooting, punching and racing funness. And there's Soul Calibar, which I'd get for all three.(Curse the lack of money
)

I have an X-box and PS2.. I almost got a Gamecube but after carefully examining what I knew was coming out for it soon and what was currently out decided it wasn't worth it. SSBM and Mario Kart are really at their best when you can get all your buddies together to play them with you, and that's exceedingly rare for me nowadays.
However if I ever have a spare hundred bucks to spend I just might say the hell with it and grab it (or maybe after I watch the Gamecube disc from my E3 Access DVD pack).

I hit your last option, I guess that works. I have all three now. i just got the XBox saturday. Go to my thread, The End is NIGH!, and you'll catch my thoughts and some others. You'll really get a good idea on the Gamecube from me. Personally, just to let you know. a lot of games that can be had on all three, I wind up getting on the PS2, just because I like the layout of it's controller. Which is odd, because I love the XBox's controller, but there are just some games that need what the PS2 has, and that's a shitload of buttons under every finger. Either way, if you know of some XBox exclusives you want, then it would be a deal.

!! wtf.. What kind of games DO you play? SSBM, MK:DD, LoZ:WW, Metroid Prime, Animal Crossing, LoA, ToS, the RE games, Viewtiful Joe, F-zero are all high-quality, exclusive, top-notch, must-have games, and i just got those off the top of my head! And the controller.. what are you, an ogre? It's perfectly formed for hands! Ah! How can ANYONE complain abou the controller!?!
Obviously, i own a gamecube. I might be a rabid fangirl on some levels.. but.. controller.. ugly..? Boggles the mind!

GAMECUBE!!!
My opinion: Nintendo is one of the few innovated game creators around. Just play Zelda and tell me they're not
I've found the GameCube games to be the most unique, and the most fun.
Most of the XBox and PS2 games are generic. Both have tons of car racing games. Both have tons of shooting/blood gushing games. XBox has the most sports games (I believe), but both have loads of those too.
I'm not saying there aren't a couple excellent, unique games for those systems (heard good things about Splinter Cell), but GameCube by far has the most truly fun games.
And check out the Nintendo DS. An oversized GameBoy Advanced with TWO SCREENS (extremely innovative gameplay from the videos I've seen), that has better graphics than an Nintendo 64, one screen that is touch sensitive, built in wireless for multiplayer, and backwards compatibility with old GameBoy Advanced games and future DS games...
