Save the STGOD!

Post by Bugsby »

I just got back from a prolonged stay at a summer camp in the middle of nowhere. In the month that I was away, things slowed down horribly.... 5 pages of posting in a month! Talking to some people it appears as though absence of players and some bickering over a few points has left the STGOD in a bit of a funk. I really want to finish this out, not just have it die off.

This thread should be used to put forth ideas from people who want to save the STGOD its dying out.... what do YOU think we can do to stop it!?

I say we put the STGOD on a bit of a hiatus until the school year starts, i.e. beginning of September. During this time, everyone who has been active can take a break to plan their next brilliant move, while the people who have been away can get some time to return from their vacations and catch up on the story. For the next month, no one posts in the game thread, and we let tempers cool and things coast a bit. Then we all pick it back up again and move this on to its conclusion.

I have talked to some people about this (Hotfoot, Marcao, Thirdfain), and they all seem amenable to the idea. So I put it out to everyone else. Or, if you have another plan, put yours out. Or, if you think things are fine the way they are, say so. Let's work together and make this STGOD great (or at least acceptably finished).

I agree that this maybe one of the better options available to the STGOD. Currently, I am preparing for a three week vacation in the Dominican Republic and I will not have access to the internet let alone electricity 75% of the time. As I see it, we have the following choices.

1. We put the STGOD in stasis and pick up a month or so from now.
2. Continue the STGOD eventhough a few players both major and minor will not be able to participate.
3. Let the STGOD die quietly and eventually start another one.

Personally, I am fondest of the first choice although naturally, the others are real possibilities. I plan on tying up a few loose ends tonight and tomorrow before I leave the country. The rest is up to the other players of the STGOD.

I spent the entire time you guys were gone planning my next brilliant move! If we keep it on hold much longer, I'll just overplan and screw myself!

Oh wait. I shouldn't have told you that.

The whole time I was gone I have been planning brilliant moves, as well. So yeah, I would like to continue.... but would that be best for the STGOD?

I also agree with putting it on hold.

Well, I wouldn't like to have to devise a entirely new star nation and am quite fond of the one I have, so I say the hiatus sounds like the best option.

Given that my net connection died a while ago, along with my computer, and I am currently doing the new system data transfer dansu, I'd say a pause would be a welcome breather.

I support the stasis, thus adding my much needed legitimacy as a public figure to your hairbrained scheme. I must say, however, that I already have my brilliant schemes mapped out and have had them so for a long time now. Sluggards.

EDIT:
The fact that I personally will have sporadic access over the next few weeks has nothing to do with my decision in this matter.

As a snivelling toady and coward, I too support this scheme. My gratuitous desire to kiss ass, and even more gratuitous laziness have everything to do with this decision. :)

Anything that allows me to tighten up the alliance and fully map every possible action of my foes is welcome. I will support this plan.

(The fact that many alliance members will be missing means nothing in my support, you understand?NOTHING!!!

Why not let it just run as molasses for a month or so, and then let other folks come in?

Yeah i know, I haven't posted much lately. Largely since there isn't much for the Union to do until there's some real Alliance/Ouster+Vampire conflict.
Or pirates, or an invasion of Alien Space Bats (TM), or something.

Of course we can keep posting. I dont expect NO POSTING to happen between now and september. There can be as much posting as you want, with just a few rules.

1) Any conflicts can only be resolutions of existing conflicts (trade fair spies, pirate world battle, Amarr). NO NEW FIGHTS.

2) No maneuvering against other players, because many people wont be around to counter it, giving unfair advantages.

But if you want to finish up your marriage story arc or wrap up a bit of unfinished business that involves only you and one other player, both of whom are around and can post freely, go right ahead.

Since Im not a mod, these are just suggestions, of course.... but they seem fair enough to me, and I dont see why anyone would disagree. Although if you do disagree, feel free to post that Im a moron. I wont mind much. 8)

This seems to me as being a very fair middle ground between complete and utter stasis and letting the few players that will be active, WTFPWN the STGOD while a good chunk of the players are incapable of posting.

I don't think anyone wanted you gone as a player. Some didn't want you to moderate the game, but then, I doubt that everyone would want me to moderate the game either.

I don't know, some people took positive glee in informing me they wanted me gone totally. So I appreciate that from you, I'm not sure that I'm welcome.

No one minds you as a player. It's your moderation which was attacked. I wasn't a player at the time and can't comment, but I for one would not mind seeing you as an active player in the game.

I think I know what you mean, but I dont believe there are any hard feelings. I for one really like you as a player in the game and would be very very sad if you had to leave us. :( If there is still some bad blood.... well, that's what this hiatus is for. So that everyone can take a few weeks and CHILL.

I haven't followed SDN's STGOD (I'm currently contented with ASVS' version), but what is the current tech level?

STGOD4 is a star wars tech-level game, based in an area a few thousand light-years around Earth. I've found it a lot faster paced and more interesting than the SDs
