I've heard that the cable is good(in AZ) but when I went to Phoenix to visit a friend, he said that he had broad band but his internet connection was really slow. Dunno if it was DSL or cable... :?

Yea, so I might as well wait for the mon. :)

Right now it's a choice between Cyberonic and Cox. Cyberonic gives $60 a month for 6mbit/768kbps, while Cox gives $40 a month for 4mbit/300-somethingkbps. Just trying to gauge my options.

Cyberonic has an advantage in being ranked one of the best ISPs in terms of quality of service. I dunno about Cox so I'm asking.

It was strange because he said it was BB but gaming and connecting to web sites was really laggy. Maybe it was a lower DSL connection.

If it was cable, then it'd be cause so many people near the area were using it as well. If it's DSL, then maybe just he's out of luck or the line quality's bad.

Cox also has a sort of monopoly on cable around our area, so cable network traffic could be a problem. But Cox does offer DSL, I think, so that could be a workaround.

I had COX when I was up at college and had no problems with them, and the internet was as fast as I could click the mouse practically, it was a little faster than the RoadRunner I have now.

i have the full Cox Digital Suite (digital cable, telephone, internet) and it not only fucking rocks, but it kicks the shit out of Verizon DSL. I pay a little over $100 total per month for the whole packace (including long distance as well as HBO and STARZ). If you try to take it away, i'll beat you with a stick. That a good enough reccomendation?

edit: Shinova, only 300mbps? Cox runs a lot faster than that here. 300mbps is low end for me. Where do you live?

FUCKING EXCELLENT!!

They are the best ISP ever IMNSHO. Tech support r0x0rs even despite the complex number menu on the phone, and I get a very distinct feeling that their bandwidth is limited only by your ethernet card instead of anything on their end. Reliability issues don't exist either: Turn on the comp, and the net's on, ready to use.

Recommend you get SpybotSD, Kerio Firewall, Hijackthis, and Mozilla Firefox to keep your connection alive and computer healthy. :)
