You can try copying the CD itself. I did that with Rebellion.

So much fun...it's like playing the Trilogy. :D

Then you have a LAN. Why Stofsk needs to know this, I don't know.

Mmmmm warcraft 2 multiplayer.... I remember the warm creamy goodness of that. Played so much of it on Kali back when case's ladder was "the" warcraft 2 ladder site.
Devolution is quite as natural as evolution, and may be just as pleasing, or even a good deal more pleasing, to God. If the average man is made in God's image, then a man such as Beethoven or Aristotle is plainly superior to God, and so God may be jealous of him, and eager to see his superiority perish with his bodily frame.

The connection between the computers is to slow. Which is impossible for a LAN. You're doing something wrong.

That you're going to lag the fuck out of each other.

Personally, do what I did (although I used a laptop with a wireless connection): Pick one to be the host. Then see what it's IP is. Then you should be able to have that one go in, set up a TCP/IP game, and be the host. Then, use the other one, to join a TCP/IP game, and put in the IP address of your host. That should work.

In theory. Again, I used a wireless connection to go to my desktop (which the wireless router plugged into). So if it's different for two desktops I don't know.

Go to start menu, then click Run, then you can try ipconfig. If that doesn't work, try cmd instead, then ipconfig.

As to connecting, it's been ages since I did WarII multiplayer. If it doesn't work by just starting up WarII, going to multiplayer, and host game, and then the other computer doesn't do it by going to multiplayer, join game, and neither display the TCP/IP option, I can't really help ya.

Although I do remember from some games over the Zone that there was some funky DOS command you had to input, but that may've been just due to the way they did the game.

Try IPX. That may be it.

Like I said, it's been a looooong time since I did WarII over the Net.

If not that, it may be modem. Direct Connect may be something you can do with a LAN, but I never did it so someone else will have to guide you through that.

On the other hand, you can give Blizzard.net a try. If it says you have too high of a lat, just try playing anyway and see how bad it really is.

Beeeecause Enforcer Talen was experiencing difficulty in setting up a multiplayer game, so I asked the logical question: are the two damn computers even hooked up? It may have been an obvious question, but some people not experienced in such things overlook them easily.

Then I'm sorry, I can't really help you. I only ever played WarII over the MSN Gaming Zone and that was a long ass time ago.

Hopefully someone else can help you (my wireless router went to shit, otherwise I'd give it a try over here).

If you want to do IPX then I think you need to install a separate protocol for it. Should be listed somewhere in XP; if there is no option for IPX you could try loading a "NetWare" protocol of some sort, since IPX originated from Novell.

I can't really explain it right now, since my mom's computer is out of order and this one runs WinME, but I'll try to figure it out tomorrow.

Ooh nevermind.

Go to your Local Area Connection Properties box by first heading for its Network Connections entry. Once you're there, click "Install...". Click "Protocol", then click "NWLink IPX/SPX/NetBIOS Compatible Transport",

That should do it for ya.

Wonder how I forgot my laptop had XP Pro on it.
